Spartanburg County Emergency Management is working to build/grow their Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD/VOAD) network to strengthen local disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts before the next emergency happens.

A COAD/VOAD brings together local nonprofits, churches, civic groups, community organizations, businesses, and volunteers to coordinate resources and support during disasters. These local organizations are often able to begin helping immediately, providing sheltering, feeding, cleanup, donations, emotional support, volunteer coordination, and other critical services before larger state and national organizations can fully mobilize.

We are currently seeking community partners interested in participating in areas such as:

• Mass Sheltering
• Special Medical Needs Sheltering
• Donation Management
• Mass Feeding
• Volunteer Management
• Financial/Fund Management
• Case Management
• Construction & Housing
• Debris Management & Cleanup
• Spiritual & Emotional Care
• Animal Services
• Mitigation & Resilience
• Transportation

If your nonprofit, church, club, business, civic organization, neighborhood group, or community organization would like to become involved in helping Spartanburg County prepare for and respond to future disasters, we invite you to join us on June 8, 9am-11am at 175 Community College Dr Spartanburg SC 29303. Here is a google link where those wishing to attend can register: https://forms.gle/s1b2P66498jgFLyF6
