The Paden City Police Department is currently investigating multiple reports of vehicles being entered and personal belongings being stolen during nighttime hours.

To help protect yourself and your property, we strongly encourage all residents to:

• Lock all vehicle doors, even when parked at home.
• Ensure all windows are completely closed.
• Remove valuables, fi****ms, wallets, purses, keys, and other items from plain view.
• Turn on exterior lighting around your residence whenever possible.
• Verify that home security cameras are functioning properly and recording.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence throughout town during overnight hours as our officers actively patrol neighborhoods and investigate these incidents.

If you have security cameras and observe suspicious activity, individuals checking vehicle door handles, or footage related to a vehicle break-in or attempted break-in, please contact the Paden City Police Department immediately. Even the smallest detail could help identify those responsible and prevent additional crimes from occurring.

The safety and security of our community remains our top priority. By working together, staying vigilant, and reporting suspicious activity, we can help protect our neighbors and keep Paden City a safe place to live, work, and raise our families.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

Starting June 1, 2026, I, Chief K. Cecil, will once again begin conducting property inspections throughout the City of Paden City. At this time, citations will be issued for violations rather than warnings. Each citation will include a photograph of the violation along with the applicable city code section.

Any citizens who are aware of violations on their property and need additional time to address those issues are encouraged to contact the Police Clerk at 304-337-2281 prior to June 1st so arrangements and communication can be made directly.

I would also like to thank the property owners who have already taken the initiative to clean up and improve their properties. Your efforts are appreciated and play an important role in maintaining and improving our community.

Regarding abandoned properties within city limits, the City of Paden City, along with the Mayor and City Council, is aware of these locations and is actively working to address those issues as well.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in helping keep Paden City clean, safe, and presentable for everyone.

We were recently approached by an employee from the sanitation company who wanted to share important information with our community.

First, they expressed appreciation for the efforts being made to help clean up Paden City, and it does not go unnoticed. I also want to personally thank the majority of our residents who are taking the time to clean up their properties, your efforts are making a visible difference throughout our town.

With that said, we ask that everyone remain mindful of our sanitation workers and the conditions they face on their routes.

To help make trash collection safer and more efficient, please follow these guidelines:

- Please bag all trash whenever possible
- If items cannot be bagged, such as wood, please tie them together
- If you have a large amount of trash, split it into multiple bags so they are not too heavy
- Trash bags should be under 50 pounds

Many garbage routes are handled by a single worker, and extremely heavy or loose items can make collection very difficult. In some cases, if items are not properly bagged, tied, or are excessively heavy, they may be left behind in accordance with their company policy.

Our goal, along with the sanitation workers, is to help keep Paden City clean and safe. By following these simple steps, you can help ensure your trash is collected without issue.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in improving our community.

I just wanted to take a moment to address the recent citations that were given out regarding junk, rubbish, and general property upkeep.

Please know that this is coming from a place of responsibility and not ill intent. Part of my role requires me to address these kinds of issues, and I truly try to approach it with fairness and understanding. My goal is never to upset anyone, but simply to do my job while helping keep our community safe, clean, and comfortable for everyone.

I completely understand that life gets busy and situations come up, and I appreciate those who are already working to take care of things. If you did receive a citation, I kindly ask that you address it when you’re able within the given timeframe.

If you have any questions, need clarification, or are dealing with a situation that makes things difficult, please feel free to reach out. I’m more than willing to work with you.

Thank you all for your understanding and for doing your part, it really does make a difference.

-Chief K. Cecil

As seen in the video, the first batch of letters addressing properties in violation of city ordinances has officially been signed and will be sent out.

While we can have a little humor along the way, please understand this is a serious matter. These letters are being issued to ensure our community remains clean, safe, and up to standard.

If you receive one, we encourage you to take the time to address the issue promptly. Our goal is compliance, not citations.

As always, we appreciate the community’s cooperation.
