The individual pictured in our previous post has been identified.

The Paden City Police Department would like to sincerely thank everyone who reached out and provided information. We greatly appreciate the assistance and continued support from our community and from those outside our community who took the time to help.

We would also like to acknowledge that, although the actions in this incident were not appropriate and resulted in damage to City property, the individual contacted the Police Department after seeing our post, acknowledged his actions, and expressed his willingness to take responsibility for the damage.

While we certainly do not condone damaging City property or violating the law, we do appreciate individuals who are willing to come forward, acknowledge their actions, and make an effort to make things right. Taking responsibility for one’s actions is important, and we appreciate his decision to contact the department.

Once again, thank you to everyone who assisted us in identifying this individual. Your continued support and willingness to help our department are greatly appreciated.

🚨 HELP US IDENTIFY THIS INDIVIDUAL 🚨

The Paden City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual pictured below.

On August 17, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., an individual was captured on surveillance footage causing damage to the restroom doors at the Paden City Park.

If you recognize this individual or have any information that may assist us in identifying him, please contact the Paden City Police Department through Facebook Messenger or by calling the department Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m.

Please do not confront or approach the individual. We also ask that you do not post names, personal information, or accusations. If you have information, please send it directly to the Paden City Police Department so it can be properly documented and investigated.

The individual has not been identified at this time. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be helpful.

And remember… If you’re practicing your karate skills, please don’t practice them on City property.

The Paden City Police Department is extremely proud to congratulate Patrolman S. Gibson on successfully completing the West Virginia State Police Academy after 16 weeks of demanding mental and physical training, intensive instruction, challenging exams, and countless hours dedicated to becoming a law enforcement officer. Throughout the academy, Patrolman Gibson was pushed physically, mentally, and emotionally while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to serve our community with professionalism, integrity, courage, and respect. Today, he has earned the right and responsibility to proudly wear the Paden City Police Department badge, and we are honored to welcome him home and have him serve alongside us as he begins this next chapter of his career. Congratulations, Patrolman Gibson, we are proud of you, proud to call you one of our own, and excited to see the officer you continue to become; your badge is earned, and your journey is just beginning!

📢Public Information: Formal Complaint Procedures.

The Paden City Police Department is committed to ensuring all complaints are handled fairly, professionally, and in accordance with our Standard Operating Procedures.

If you wish to file a formal complaint, please be aware of the following:

• Complaints must be made by an identified complainant.
• A written statement form must be completed and signed.
• Anonymous complaints cannot be processed through the department’s formal complaint procedure.
• Formal complaints cannot be processed until the required documentation has been completed.

These procedures are in place to protect the integrity of the complaint process, ensure accurate documentation, and provide fairness to everyone involved.

In-Person Complaint Procedure (Non-Emergency)

If your complaint is not an emergency, you are encouraged to visit the Paden City Police Department during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and advise the police clerk that you wish to file a formal complaint.

• If an officer is on duty, the police clerk will contact the officer, who will meet with you, discuss your complaint, and provide you with a statement form to complete and sign.

• If an officer is not on duty, the police clerk will provide you with a statement form. Once the completed and signed form is received, the clerk will notify the Chief of Police so the complaint can be reviewed and handled in accordance with department policy.

Emergency Situations

If you are experiencing an emergency or need immediate police assistance, call 911 immediately.

The Paden City Police Department does not operate its own dispatch center. Our 911 dispatchers are trained to gather the necessary information, dispatch an officer when appropriate, and direct callers to the appropriate emergency resources.

Reporting by Telephone

If you are unable to come to the department, you may report your concern by calling 911. Dispatchers document all calls and relay the information to responding officers. If you wish to file a formal complaint regarding department personnel or departmental actions, you will still be required to complete and sign a written statement before the complaint can be processed.

Our Dodge Durango has been proudly serving the citizens of Paden City, and it has now received a fresh new look.

We wanted to keep the design simple, professional, and consistent with the appearance of the vehicle while still ensuring it represents the Paden City Police Department.

The Paden City Police Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Wetzel County Energy Express for the incredible work they do each year to provide a safe, positive, and engaging environment for the children in our community. Programs like Energy Express make a lasting impact by encouraging learning, building confidence, and creating meaningful experiences that help shape our youth. We truly appreciate the dedication, hard work, and care that the staff and volunteers invest in making this program such a success.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Paden City Elementary School for graciously hosting this wonderful program and for always being so welcoming, supportive, and community-minded. The school’s commitment to providing opportunities for children and opening its doors for programs like this helps strengthen our community and creates a positive environment where our youth can learn, grow, and thrive. We are truly grateful for everything the faculty and staff do for the children of Paden City.

Additionally, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Wetzel County Sheriff Eric M. Daugherty for coordinating with Deputy K9 Handler C. Cook and K9 Hice to attend this year’s event. Your continued support of community outreach and youth education is greatly appreciated.

A special thank you goes to Deputy K9 Handler C. Cook and K9 Hice for taking the time to speak with the children, demonstrate the important role that police K9’s play in law enforcement, and answer questions throughout the visit. Opportunities like these help build trust, strengthen relationships between law enforcement and our community, and give young people a better understanding of the dedication and teamwork that goes into keeping our communities safe.
