Mccracken County Conservation District Formed in 1954 to protect and conserve the Natural Resources in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Conservsation District was established in 1954 by the State Soil and Water Commission, and is a subdivision of The KentuckMcCracken County’s soil and water are among the many important natural resources that we as a county need to conserve. With the help of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the McCracken County Conservation District hopes to promote a closer cooperat

ive effort between the landowners, governmental agencies, private organizations, and concerned elected officials. There is only a limited number of trees so make sure you come out, the sooner the better. We will start at 10:00 sharp!

Couldn't make it out last Thursday?! No worries, we are having a 2nd round of our tree seedling giveaway TOMORROW, THURSDAY APRIL 2nd! We will start at 10:00. There are only a limited number of tree seedlings for tomorrow, be sure to come out as close to 10:00 as you can. Once they are all gone, they are gone! See you tomorrow, with hopefully a much calmer wind than last Thursday!

What: YAIP Applications Reopen, up to $1,000 cost share
When: Monday, December 1st - Friday , December 19th
Who: McCracken County Residents Ages 9 - 18; or they must be enrolled in a McCracken Co program
Where: Applications can be picked up in at our office in the box on the door, at the McCracken County Cooperative Extension office at 2025 New Holt Rd., or they can be requested by email at [email protected].

**Please note there may be other requirements depending on the project.

This is a 75(State Cost Share Funds)/ 25(producer) cost share program with a maximum of $20,000 per producer. The DEADLINE to apply for this year's signup is OCTOBER 1st.
Below are some of the common eligible practices
• Grassed Waterways
• Diversion
• Grade Stabilization Structures (Rock Chutes)
• Cover Crop
• Cross Fencing
• Pasture Reseeding
• Heavy Use Area, Winter Feeding Pads
• Livestock Waterers & Pipeline
• Stream Crossings – Livestock or Equipment

Today is the day!! Come out to the extension office this evening and learn how we can help you using a wonderful cost share program to improve your agricultural operations. There is even a youth program for kids who are 9 and up!!

Join us at the McCracken County Cooperative Extension Office next Tuesday, August 26th at 5:30pm for the CAIP Info Night. This meeting is intended for ag producers who are specifically interested in the CAIP cost-share program - with the goal of improving their individual farming operations and the agriculture industry within the state. We will have representatives from the Kentucky Ag Development Fund (KADF) and the McCracken County Soil Conservation District available to help answer questions and explain the changes to the application process. Dates and times for the applications to be live/due will be announced at this meeting.
