REHABILITATION COORDINATOR / CONSTRUCTION ASSISTANT
POSITION DESCRIPTION
One-year commitment as AmeriCorps Service Member--A non-profit working with low- and moderate-income homeowners seeks a Rehabilitation Coordinator/Construction Assistant to serve as an AmeriCorps member for 1 year beginning September 1, 2025. (A second year of service at the site and/or a permanent position with the organization is possible.)
The Paducah Alliance of Neighbors--a Paducah, Kentucky-based nonprofit--is one of several service sites across Kentucky partnering with the Homeless and Housing Coalition of Kentucky in their Homes for All program. This program is one of many AmeriCorps programs across the country. For more information about the Homes for All program, check out HHCK's website at www.hhck.org.
In exchange for 37.5 hours a week, the service position offers an annual living allowance of at least $20,400. (Additional stipend possible for candidates with significant construction experience.) Health care coverage. Child care assistance, if needed. And an education award of at least $7,395 upon completion of 1,700 hours of service. (Can be used for past or future educational costs.) Student loans are deferred during service period.

QUALIFICATIONS
*Thorough and organized with strong orientation to detail.
*Ability to work as a member of a team, meet deadlines, and plan work.
*Strong aptitude and some hands-on experience in construction is preferred.
*Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate with community-based volunteers, youth volunteers, halfway house inmate community service workers, and low- and moderate-income homeowner clients; and to speak to groups to recruit and lead volunteers. Should be comfortable with telephone, mail, e-mail, facebook, website, and public speaking as modes of communication.
*Ability to effectively motivate and train volunteers to participate in construction activities.
*Ability to create and edit documents in Microsoft Word and Excel.
*Ability to create and edit plans in Revvit, Sketchup, or similar program is a bonus.
*Commitment to AmeriCorps and its policies and philosophies and to the non-profit's work toward eliminating substandard housing.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
*The Rehabilitation/Construction Coordinator will assist with the following activities:
*Program support and operations (35%): Complete activities related to the continuation of programs and services for clients including: work plans, intake and assessment, personnel activity records, creating and maintaining client files, writing and submitting client and data reports, and record keeping related to client funding sources.
*Repair or rehab construction (35%): Help improve existing homes by working with carpenters, other staff, or volunteers to complete critical home repairs with projects consisting of building ramps and porches, replacing windows and flooring, roofing, painting, and other aspects of home repair.
*New home construction (20%): Work with carpenters, other staff, or volunteers to build new homes, with projects consisting of framing, roofing, painting, floor coverings, drywall, etc.
*Volunteer management: work with volunteers during the construction projects, including on-site management and project placement for volunteer groups.
*Volunteer recruitment and training: identify and assist volunteers in conducting new home, home repair or rehab activities.
*Safety: follow all safety procedures and takes proper precaution for personal safety and safety of volunteers, staff, carpenters, and other individuals on the worksite, care and accountability for all equipment and tools.
*Other Duties Related to the Homes for All Program (10%): (1) Participate in the following events and trainings that fall within the term of service, including Pre-Service Orientation, AmeriCorps Launch, MLK Day of Service, National Service Recognition Day, Homes for All Spring Service Project, and End of Service Celebration. (2) Participate in monthly program trainings, site visits, and other check-ins. (3) Submit time sheets and program reports in a timely manner. (4) Check emails and respond to programmatic requests in a timely manner.
