Heather is consistently available and kind when I make requests again and again to adjust, amend, add, and take away buses or SUVS. She is truly an invaluable part of the ASD team!”

Megan brings 13 years of experience in education, from the classroom to her most recent role as Dean of Students at a PK-6 school in Walsenburg, Colorado.

“I am thrilled and truly honored to be selected as part of Pagosa Springs Middle School,” Megan shared. “PSMS really stands out for its outdoor adventures, and I am eager to be a part of these adventures! I am looking forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.”

We’re excited to welcome students back tomorrow! With construction continuing downtown, families are encouraged to use school transportation whenever possible.

If your student plans to ride the bus, here are a few important reminders before tomorrow morning:
🚌Complete the 2026–27 Transportation Contract if you haven’t already.
🚌 Double-check your bus route and pickup/drop-off times. Some routes and times have changed this year.
🚌 Bus badges: Students who kept their badge from last year can continue using it. Students who need a replacement will receive one as the school year gets underway. Students may still ride while badges are being distributed.

🏫 Proposed Bond Update: ASD Could Still Receive $50M BEST Grant

Archuleta School District still has a path to receiving a $50 million BEST grant for the proposed PK–8 school. ASD is currently the first alternate for funding, with three projects ahead of us that depend on successful local bond elections this November. If sufficient funding becomes available, ASD could receive the grant this year. If not, our high ranking puts the district in a strong position to compete again in the next BEST funding cycle.

To accept a BEST grant, ASD would need to provide the required local match through a voter-approved bond. On Tuesday, September 1, the Board of Education will consider whether to place a bond measure on the November 2026 ballot.

📣 The Archuleta School District Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Tues, Sept 1, at 6:15 p.m. in the Pagosa Springs Middle School Library. The agenda includes action on placing the proposed bond measure on the November ballot, the 2026–27 Assessment Calendar, Board Visits to Schools, a presentation from Heart of a Building, and more.

Community members are welcome to attend in person or join via Google Meet. The meeting will also be recorded and posted to the district’s YouTube channel.

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Angela Ayers, the new Assistant Principal at Pagosa Springs High School!

Angela brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including student-centered learning, curriculum development, staff mentorship, family engagement, and previous experience as an assistant principal. She joins us from Indiana and is excited to make Colorado home, and to live closer to her daughter.

“I am most excited about meeting students and the opportunity to spur them on in their high school journey. I am also excited to support teachers and encourage them in the important work they do.”
