Vintage Recipes. When a mother sent off daughters in the 1800's she handwrote her recipes so they could feed a family. These are scanned copies of My Great Great Aunt's recipes which her daughters took into the world in the 1880's to 1920's then as they passed they all landed back to me. The photo's are compilations of up to date photo's to give an idea of what your final result might look like.

I once met a man at Mt. Melleray Abbey in Ireland who changed my beliefs in prayer. This is Brother Adrian who passed in the early 1990’s. We met when he served Tea. They live “The Rule of Benedict is that of a stable and enclosed community, whose daily activities are divided between work, worship, reading and rest. Its goal is the perfect love of God expressed in the practice of obedience, silence, humility, service of others and in all things "preferring nothing whatever to Christ"
After listening to the brothers sing their prayers one is left pondering how people can enter a monastery to spend their lives praying for all of us. I believe he was 18 when he entered. He spent his life praying we “out in the world” would be safe, live our lives fully in a God Like fashion and be happy.
I couldn’t conceive or understand how a person could devote a full life to prayer living sheltered. I had seen Billy Graham and Mother Teresa out being activists which made sense to me- but, living in prayer?
There are days when I question God’s plan for me. I often wonder what path he had for other’s seeing how they act and speak. Particularly politicians. Then I remember how strange my thoughts were to Brother Adrian as we shared letters attempting to understand each other’s thoughts about the world. It amazed me how full of God’s love he was when he shared his perspective. I can only pray that on some days I share a tiny bit of the love he passed to me.
