🌲 A Night for Tree 🌲

Some people don’t just play music.

They hold a community together.

Tree Leom was one of those people.

Tree was a musician, a mentor, and a constant supporter of artists in the local music and renaissance community. He lifted bands when they were just starting, encouraged performers to step on stage, and helped shape the sound, spirit, and heart of venues we love, including Sherwood Forest Faire and The Texas Viking Festival

Now it’s our turn to give back.
On February 20, 2026, we’re coming together for a Benefit Concert for Tree at Valkyrie Ranch.
All proceeds will go directly to Tree’s widow and daughters.

This date was chosen intentionally so visiting artists preparing for Sherwood Forest Faire can join us in honoring a man who supported so many of them along the way.

No matter the amount, every dollar helps support Tree’s family and carries forward the kindness he gave so freely.

Allow me to introduce you to, "Bucket Head." He is a three-year-old Père David's Deer (Milu), and his species is functionally extinct. He and forty others of his kind call Valkyrie Ranch their home.

Once again, the neighbor’s cows have gotten onto the property and this time have laid a fresh batch of eggs in their cow nest. They like the lush grasses here on the preserve, and I’m sure they feel safe. For all you city folk, the momma and daddy cows will now take turns sitting on the nest for the next eighteen weeks. So we can’t just push them back to the neighbor’s property until the calves are able to follow them home.

Percy got out of his pen and then preceded to find a garden hose to use as decoration in his antlers. While he was bottle fed, and loves giving me kisses, he was frustrated and is still a wild animal. So I had to tranquillize him to remove the hose. He woke up inside of a transport trailer and is now safely living in a new and very large paddock. Of course, he did all this right when the sky was about to open and it dumped inches of water on us. But everyone laughed because we all love silly Percy and never get mad at his odd adventures.

The mothers take turns watching the nursery. While on break, the other moms go swimming, relaxing and sleeping, and foraging. The babies are a handful, exploring the world, playing games, and meeting all the other species of deer and antelope they encounter. The wildebeest form up with the Père David’s Deer when either group has children. And both groups protect the babies together.
