The new school year is starting, be sure to review to help keep the children safe!

Please drive with care and watch out for children returning to school.

With kids starting back to school, do you know when to stop for a school bus? (THIS IS FOR OHIO-EACH STATE MAY DIFFER)
Straight from the Ohio's Drivers Handbook -

If the bus is stopped on a street or road which has fewer than four lanes, all traffic approaching the bus from either direction must stop at least 10 feet from the front or rear of the bus and remain stopped until the bus begins to move or the bus driver signals motorists to proceed.

* If the bus is stopped on a street or road which has four or more lanes, only traffic proceeding in the same direction as the bus must stop.

Yesterday we met with some of our amazing volunteers to review the new Helping Hands for Seniors program, which is administered by Lifeline, Inc. 💙 Helping Hands was launched this past March and has already made a significant impact in the lives of older adults in Lake County. To date, the program has 13 volunteers (all 55+), who have served 69 unduplicated older adults and completed 253 services, amounting to a total of 300 hours! WOW! We could do not do this program without the contribution of these volunteers. Thank you! 🙏
We are still seeking volunteers for the Helping Hands program. To learn more, attend our next orientation on Wednesday, August 30 at 10AM at the Lake County Administration Center. Contact Cristen Kane at (440) 350-5360 or [email protected] to learn more.

Helping Hands uses volunteers to help complete simple chore and errand type services for older adults in need. Not all volunteers are pictured.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
EMERGENCY - MADISON AVENUE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE IN PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP

Effective immediately, Madison Avenue between Casement Avenue and Woodworth Avenue in Painesville Township will be closed to all traffic.

The Lake County Engineer became aware of an issue at the retaining wall on the south side of the road and has determined that additional inspections and evaluations regarding the structural integrity of the wall are needed. The road will remain closed until the results of the study are available.

We apologize for the short notice and the inconvenience but this office believes that the emergency closure is necessary to protect public welfare and safety. Drivers should not try to drive around and/or move the barricades to gain access.

Suggested alternate route:
Woodworth Avenue and Casement Avenue

"It has been my honor to serve as State Representative and County Commissioner for what I consider the best county in the Great State of Ohio. My fellow Commissioners Hamercheck and Plecnik have been a joy to work with and extremely supportive of me. This session began in 2019 and was personally challenging for me. Kathy, my wife of 46 years, died in March of 2020 after a long illness. In May of 2020 I was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. After two regimes of chemotherapy, one at the Seidman Cancer Center and one at the Cleveland Clinic, I received a Bone Marrow Transplant at the Clinic. During the same period, I contracted COVID twice. It was only by God's grace that I survived. During this period the Board of Commissioners continued to wholeheartedly support me and encourage me in spite of my obvious physical weaknesses," stated Commissioner Ron Young on his upcoming retirement. We wish you well Commissioner Young!
