2021 Law Day Webinar 4/30/21-- “Advancing the Rule of Law Now.”

Advancing the Rule of Law Now-- Lake County Bar Association hosted Law Day at Painesville Municipal Court (Judge Paul Malchesky Presiding) on 4/30/21. Law Day was established by President Eisenhower in 1958 and is celebrated every year on May 1st, to mark our nation’s commitment to respecting the rule of law. The Law Day theme for 2021 was “Advancing The Rule Of Law-Now” and the Law Day Committee was honored to have Judge Mary Jane Trapp from the 11th District Court of Appeals, retired Judge Joseph Gibson from the Lake County Court of Common Pleas and Judge Paul Malchesky of the Painesville Municipal Court as the keynote speakers. The rule of law is the bedrock of American rights and liberties—in times of calm and unrest alike. The 2021 Law Day theme—Advancing the Rule of Law, Now—reminds all of us that we the people share the responsibility to promote the rule of law, defend liberty, and pursue justice.

Judge Paul R. Malchesky discussed how courts play an integral role in maintaining the rule of law. He quoted President John F. Kennedy “Law is the strongest link between man and freedom.”
