Elm Street Elementary School 5th grade students spent the past month helping Mrs. Byers turn their language arts classroom into a theater inspired by William Shakespeare's historic Globe Theater in London. Today, they invited other classes to watch them perform A Midsummer Night's Dream, a Shakespearean comedy that they studied in Amplify CKLA Unit 7. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the posters, tickets, programs, scenery, props, costumes, and lighting planned and made by the 5th grade students. Everyone learned a lot, laughed a lot, and made great memories! Following the show, 5th graders enjoyed a special treat (Junior Mints) to celebrate the end of the unit. Congratulations on a job well done cast and crew!

Our third graders at Elm Street put their math skills to work by designing blueprints of their dream homes. Students carefully drew each room and calculated the perimeter and area along the way. We loved seeing their creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail shine through in every design. Great job, third grade!

As Financial Literacy students near the end of the school year, they participated in Mad City Money, an interactive budgeting simulation that allowed them to apply the concepts learned in class to real-world financial decision-making. Students were assigned adult scenarios that included a career, salary, debt, and, in many cases, a family to support.

Throughout the simulation, students managed their income while making budgeting decisions related to housing, transportation, childcare, entertainment, and other everyday expenses. The experience helped students better understand the importance of budgeting, planning ahead, and adapting to unexpected financial situations.

A special thank you to Theory Federal Credit Union and the community volunteers who helped make this valuable learning experience possible.
