Type: Mostly volunteer / part-time department

The department has grown from a small volunteer organization into a modern emergency service provider with trained personnel and updated equipment.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ Staffing & Operations
Staffed 24/7, 365 days a year
Typically 2โ€“3 firefighters on duty at all times

The department operates a well-rounded fleet to handle both fire suppression and EMS:

Engines & tanker trucks for firefighting
Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances for EMS
Rescue units & utility vehicles for specialized incidents
Off-road rescue vehicle (UTV) for difficult terrain

This allows them to handle both rural and suburban emergencies effectively.

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Role in the Community

Beyond emergency response, the department is deeply involved in the community:

Hosts CPR training classes
Organizes events like annual pancake breakfasts
Provides public safety education
Assists with fire prevention and open burning regulations
๐Ÿ“Š Scale & Activity
Handles hundreds of calls annually (fire, EMS, rescue)
Operates from one main station

The Leroy Township Fire Department is a small but capable hybrid (paid/part-time) department that provides essential fire protection and emergency medical services to a largely suburban/rural community. It emphasizes rapid response, community involvement, and practical resource management, typical of many township fire departments in Ohio.
