Last April, 2012, we moved into the former bank building in Paint Lick and began to “de-bank” the building so we could create an arts center. October 5th of last year we officially opened th

e center and began a whole series of arts classes, workshops and events in many arts areas including, painting, clay, weaving, music, basketry, writing and more. All through the months you have been here, not only participating, but encouraging and supporting our efforts to bring the arts to Paint Lick and surrounding communities. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your loving support for our mission here. As many of you know, we have decided to move back to Hanover, Indiana where we have a home waiting for us. This decision was difficult as we have fallen in love with you all and have enjoyed your being here in our center with us. But because of health and financial reasons, we believe this decision was wise. We will miss you all but will come back to visit occasionally. Again, thank you for all you have done for us and may God bless and keep you. Hal and Yvonne Davis

"VALENTINES PAST & PRESENT"
Opening Reception & Exhibit
Thursday, February 14th, 5:30-8:30pm

THE SECRET IS OUT! This Thursday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, Halyvonne’s Secret Garden in the former bank building in Paint Lick, KY, will unveil a well-kept secret: “What are they going to do with the vault?” An adjunct to Paint Lick Community Arts Center, Halyvonne’s Secret Garden has been a fine arts shop/piano studio in the building where visitors have found special treasures to take home and have sat on the porch and listened to Yvonne Davis, the shop’s curator, play their favorite tunes on her baby grand.

Thursday evening will also be the opening reception for the “Valentines Past and Present” exhibit in the center, 5:30 – 8:30pm, which will feature a display of vintage valentines, wedding announcements, love letters, wedding gowns and many other romantic memorabilia, as well as hand-made valentines by the center’s young art students. Deborah Payne will provide live music as a strolling violinist and the Garrard County High School drama students will perform as they mingle with the guests.

Refreshments will be served, including a wedding cake and fountain drink.

The presentation of “The Secret”, a special space in the old bank building’s vault, will be featured during the evening. Just a hint from Yvonne, designer of Halyvonne’s Secret Garden and the vault’s renovation, “It will provide the space’s guest with a warm romantic experience.” Everyone is welcome to experience a rich and memorable Valentine’s Day evening.
