🐝 Pollinator Week
Pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds play a vital role in our ecosystems—and libraries across the Southern Tier are helping communities learn how to support them.

Many STLS member libraries offer:
🌼 Gardening and pollinator-friendly planting resources
📚 Books for all ages about bees, butterflies, and native plants
🦋 Nature-themed storytimes and summer learning activities

Even small actions—like planting native flowers—can make a big difference for pollinators in our communities.

Check with your local STLS library to see what programs and resources are available this summer.

Celebrate history of the Southern Tier by checking out the Eric Lindsay Memorial Postcard Collection! Eric Lindsay was a great friend of the Steele Memorial Library in Elmira, NY until his passing in 2015 at 90 years of age. His friends and family created a memorial fund that made this historical postcard collection through the Steele Memorial Library possible. This postcard collection depicts Elmira, NY and Chemung County, NY in historic pictorial images

One of the most sustainable things you can do? Borrow instead of buy. ♻️📚

Libraries help reduce waste by sharing resources with the whole community.
Instead of purchasing something new, check your library for:
📖 Books and audiobooks
🎬 Movies and documentaries
🧩 Games and activity kits
📱 Digital resources and eBooks

Sharing resources helps save money, reduce consumption, and strengthen communities.
