Yesterday’s “Where Am I Wednesday” location was the Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Community Center, located on North 19th Street. The center serves as an important gathering place for residents. It stands as a tribute to the legacy of Robert H. Jenkins, Jr., a respected community leader whose dedication and service helped shape the Palatka community.

Today, the Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Community Center continues to bring people together through youth programs, community events, educational opportunities, recreation activities, and neighborhood engagement. It remains a place where residents can connect, learn, and build a stronger community for future generations.

The City of Palatka recently learned about text messages going around that claim to be surveys about local issues. One example asks people to click a link to share their opinions.
These messages did not come from the City of Palatka. Please be careful and avoid clicking links from unknown senders. Scammers often use texts, emails, and fake surveys to steal personal information or send people to fake websites.
If you receive a suspicious message:
• Do not click on any links.
• Do not provide personal or financial information.
• Delete the message and report it as spam.
• Verify information through official City of Palatka communication channels.
The City of Palatka always uses official channels like our website and verified social media accounts to contact residents. If you have any questions about a message that says it is from the City, call City Hall at (386) 329-0100.

The City of Palatka reminds residents that administrative offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, for the Juneteenth holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, June 22. Please plan ahead if you need assistance from our administrative staff. Police and fire services will continue as usual. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful Juneteenth as we honor this important day in our nation's history.

Save the date and join us for the City of Palatka's Annual 4th of July Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Riverfront. Bring your family and friends for an evening of live music, food trucks, vendors, a Kids Zone, face painting, puppet shows, and more. Enjoy a performance by the Azalea City Children's Chorus, watch the popular Boat Parade at 8:40 p.m., and see Palatka's biggest fireworks show starting at 9:30 p.m. This community event is free for everyone. Come celebrate our nation's independence together along the beautiful St. Johns River. We hope to see you there!

Our City of Palatka Summer Intern is back with another round of "Where Am I Wednesday!" As part of the 2026 Summer Internship Program, one of our Communications Office interns is coming up with fun and interactive ways for everyone to discover Palatka’s unique spots, hidden gems, and local history.
