🚓 Field Report Fridays 🚓

July 24, 2026 – July 30, 2026

Over the past week, officers with the Palestine Police Department responded to a variety of calls for service, including a subject who made threats at the hospital before later being arrested during a traffic stop, a disturbance at the Hope Station involving a subject who refused to leave one of the showers, an altercation at McDonald's where an angry subject threw food onto another person's vehicle, and an intoxicated subject at Walmart who told officers he wanted to go to jail because he was drunk.

🚓 Field Report Fridays 🚓

July 17, 2026 – July 23, 2026

It was a particularly busy week at one local retailer as Walmart accounted for several calls for service. Officers responded to multiple shoplifting incidents, including two male individuals who attempted to conceal packages of meat in their pants, two suspects who returned after previously stealing merchandise, and a suspect who pushed a shopping cart full of alcohol out of the store before being apprehended. Elsewhere in the city, officers also responded to an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand, along with numerous other calls for service throughout the week.

Around the clock, our officers answer the call to serve. Field Report Friday highlights some of the work performed over the past week to help keep Palestine safe.

The Palestine Police Department is accepting applications for Entry-Level and Lateral Transfer Police Officer positions.

💰 Starting pay up to $73,692 per year, depending on experience and certifications

📰Two Arrested Following Heat-Related Dog Death📰

Just before 4 pm on July 21st, Officers from the Palestine Police Department and Animal Control responded to a residence in the 200 blk of W. Park. A caller reported that a puppy was locked in a cage in direct sunlight with no shade or water.

Officers arrived on scene and found that the dog was deceased. Officers made contact with the owners of the dog, identified as Daisy Guity, 29, of Palestine, and Lisbeth Guity, 31, of Palestine. These subjects reported that they placed the puppy in the cage around 1 pm before leaving the residence. The heat index in Palestine on Tuesday was well over 100 degrees. Both Daisy and Lisbeth were taken into custody and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animal, a third-degree felony. Both individuals were booked into the Anderson County Jail without incident. The dog has been transported to Texas A&M University for a necropsy.

"It is the responsibility of pet owners to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their pets". PPD Chief Mark Harcrow said. " We are experiencing extreme heat in this Texas summer. Anyone that is found to not be providing adequate shade and water to their pets will be arrested and prosecuted."

Anderson County Criminal District Attorney Allyson Mitchell also added, "Inexcusable crimes against animals that rely on humans to care for them will not be tolerated in our community. The DA's office looks forward to working with the PPD to bring justice for this animal."

📰PPD Arrests Six Following Narcotics Investigation📰

On Sunday, July 19th, the Palestine Police Department executed a search warrant on a residence in the 1400 blk. of N. Jackson St. This operation was the result of an investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics at the residence.

While searching the residence, officers located approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine, along with digital scales, baggies, and US currency. The following individuals were arrested in the residence and charged as follows:

* Lori Hill, 58-Manufacture/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1 4 grams to 200 grams
* Lisa Larue, 56-Manufacture/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1 4 grams to 200 grams
* Joey Neblett, 32- Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than a gram, additional warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than a gram
* Matthew Nunez, 40- Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than a gram
* Michael Sheppard, 61- Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than a gram
* Richard Vineyard, 49- Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than a gram

All suspects were transported to the Anderson County Jail and booked without incident.

🚓 Operation Slow Down 👮‍♂️

The Palestine Police Department would like to inform residents that additional traffic enforcement will begin tomorrow, Saturday, July 18, as part of Operation Slow Down.

During this enforcement period, officers will conduct additional patrols, along with normal patrol operations, with a focus on reducing speeding and promoting safer driving throughout our community.

Speeding increases the risk of serious crashes, reduces reaction time, and puts drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists in danger.

Please slow down, obey posted speed limits, and give yourself extra time to reach your destination safely.

Our goal is not just enforcement — it is prevention. Help us keep Palestine roads safe.

July 10, 2026 – July 16, 2026

It was another busy week for the Palestine Police Department as officers responded to a wide variety of calls for service.

From a stolen bathtub, to a suspect who fled after crashing into a City of Palestine Visitors Center sign while in possession of a stolen firearm, to an attempted kidnapping investigation in the Walmart parking lot, to a disturbance involving a roommate being smeared with f***s, and an intoxicated individual engaging in inappropriate behavior on the front porch of the Palestine Visitors Center, our officers remained ready to respond to whatever the week brought.
