Welcome Water Protectors Center at the Great River

Welcome Water Protectors Center at the Great River The Water Protector Welcome Center is permanently closed. Miigwech to everyone who came here to help stop Line 3. Please join us in helping to create the Center.

The WWPC is being collectively reimagined as an
arts and cultural education center with a focus on
traditional ecological knowledge, citizen science and
arts in resistance. We are developing programming that we hope to refine in collaboration with past, current and future water protectors. We
welcome our neighbors to the space. All events
are open to the public.

Jim Northrup (Fond du Lac) and other are headed out to set up camp and harvest manoomin (wild rice) today! We’re here at Welcome Water Protectors helping folks gear up & orient β€” Jim and others are sharing stories and teaching how to make push poles and knockers, and how to work together in a good way that honors Anishinaabe lands, waters, and cultural traditions.

We’ll be welcoming first time ricers and others who want to deepen their relationship with rivers and lakes in the 1855 & 1854 treaty territories this week and next weekend.

Will repost the invitation below β€” please sign-up at www.tinyurl.com/welcomewaterprotectors if you plan to join! You can come prepared to camp or come just for the day β€” more information will be provided via email.
