As EMS Week continues, today three members of the Palisade Fire Department were recognized with a Phoenix Award. This recognition is for their efforts and care resulting in a life saved. We are honored to have them as part of our family and our team.

There is a Red Flag Warning in effect until 8:00pm due to gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels.

Today the Palisade Fire Department’s Wildland Crew was able to conduct a mitigation burn. These planned events help reduce the potential spread of fire in moderate to high hazard areas. They also provide great training opportunities for our personnel allowing them to gain experience in controlled situations.

Mesa County Public Health has issued the following No Burn Advisory.

Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory for Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. due to strong winds. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period.

Today personnel from the Palisade Fire Department and Mesa County Fire Authority participated in a full day of extrication and stabilization training. Thank you to Dan’s Towing for donating the cars and Curtis Tools and Paratech for the insights.

Crews from Palisade Fire, Mesa County Fire Authority, Grand Junction Fire, East Orchard Mesa VFD, Mesa County SO, and State Patrol responded to a fully involved out building with a large amount of ammunition in the 4000block of Reeder Mesa. Crews are still on scene in mop up.

Here is a look at the current fire danger in Colorado and where are crew is operating in Nebraska. The Morrill Fire is currently at 643,361 acres with containment at 16%. Despite having a crew and apparatus on deployment we remain fully staffed and ready to serve our community.
