Stage 1 Fire Restrictions will be going into effect.

The Mesa County Sheriff, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Grand Junction Field Office, Colorado National Monument, and the Fire Chiefs representing municipalities and fire protection districts of Mesa County are implementing Stage 1 Fire

This week members of the Palisade Fire Department are taking advantage of local training. The 32nd annual Colorado Wildland Fire & Incident Management Academy is being held at the CMU Campus. We have members taking classes, teaching classes and serving on the Incident Management Team that is responsible for running the academy.

I-70 Eastbound is closed between mile marker 42 and 45 for an extended period due to a significant vehicle accident.

Today the Palisade Fire Department’s Wildland Crew was able to conduct a mitigation burn. These planned events help reduce the potential spread of fire in moderate to high hazard areas. They also provide great training opportunities for our personnel allowing them to gain experience in controlled situations.

Mesa County Public Health has issued the following No Burn Advisory.

Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory for Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. due to strong winds. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period.
