To that end, every initiative the Brevard Hispanic Center carries out focuses on doing the most to help those in need, regardless of ethnicity. Multiculturalism and inclusion are the two biggest priorities of this center in its role as a bridge between individual needs and the organizations that can provide the right solutions.

Brevard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Hosts Successful Seniors and Veterans Luncheon in Palm Bay

PALM BAY, Fla. — May 29, 2026 — The Brevard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted a successful Seniors and Veterans Luncheon on May 29 at Morel’s Bar and Grill in Palm Bay, bringing together veterans, seniors, business professionals, nonprofit organizations and community leaders for an afternoon celebrating service, culture, art, music and community connections.

The event featured networking opportunities and arts-and-crafts activities led by Liliana Chamorro of Lilipooh with the assistance of sculptor Rafael Picón. Attendees enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere while building relationships and learning about resources available to seniors and veterans throughout Brevard County.

Special appreciation was extended to Morel’s Bar and Grill owners Maria and Edward Morel and their entire team for hosting the event and providing outstanding hospitality. The luncheon was organized by the Brevard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Dominican Association of East Central Florida, the Brevard Hispanic Center, Florida Arts & Culture and the Painting Smiles for Brevard program.

The chamber also expressed its gratitude to Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina and Pastor Maximo Guzman for their participation and support of the event. Pastor Guzman and Mayor Medina offered prayers and words of encouragement, helping set a positive and uplifting tone for the gathering.

Special thanks were extended to Jackie Colon for her support and coordination efforts leading up to the event. The chamber also recognized volunteers Beverly Joyce Lee and Ingrid Murcillo for their assistance, as well as organizers Lisnay Hernandez and Franciele Ursulino for helping make the luncheon a success.

Additional recognition was given to Ligia Garcia of Senior Helpers and Amber of Comfort Keepers for their participation and support of the senior community. The chamber also expressed its appreciation to members of the Spanish American Veterans Association and the Dominican Association of East Central Florida for partnering in the event and helping honor local seniors and veterans.

The event concluded with networking, music, arts-and-crafts activities and community fellowship, reflecting the Brevard Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's and the Brevard Hispanic Center’s ongoing mission to serve as a bridge between the Hispanic community, businesses, government agencies and civic organizations throughout the Space Coast.

Painting Smiles for Brevard was a great success on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brevard Hispanic Center, 4670 Babcock St. NE #5, Palm Bay, FL 32907. The event brought together children, families, artists and community leaders for a memorable clay sculpture class. A special thank you goes to sculpturist professor Rafael Picón, who guided the children in building an elephant figure in clay. Special thanks also to Judy Whitnable, former mayor of the City of Cocoa, for helping during the event.

The program was honored by the presence of Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey, and special thanks go to his wife, Adriana, who shared a wonderful time with the students while speaking in Portuguese. Recognition also goes to organizers Lisnay Hernandez and Franciele Ursulino for putting this great event together.

Thank you to the parents for supporting their children and trusting Painting Smiles for Brevard and the Brevard Hispanic Center. A heartfelt thank you also goes to McDonald’s at 132 Malabar Road SW, Palm Bay, FL 32907, especially store manager Andrew, for donating Happy Meals for the children who attended.

We are proud to share that our ADHD, Mental Health, and Wellness Seminar was a complete success. The event brought together community members, families, and professionals for an engaging and educational conversation focused on ADHD, emotional well-being, and overall mental health. We are grateful to our outstanding speakers and contributors—Dr. Daniel Kan, MD, Paola Zaki, Licensed MentalHealth Counselor; Dr. Bob Levine, Dr. Daniel Hammond, and Javier Molinares, PhD—for sharing their expertise, compassion, and practical insights. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make this seminar such a positive and impactful experience for our community.
