This page is a tribute to the historic resort town of Palm Beach, founded in the late 19th century by Henry Morrison Flagler, railroad magnate and American entrepreneur. Henry Flagler completed his railroad to Palm Beach in March, 1894, following the "Land Grant" act which allowed builders of railroads and canals to claim sizable tracts of land in exchange for opening up territory. He established

the first major home in Palm Beach, Whitehall, and the Hotel Royal Poinciana, at that time the largest wooden structure in the world. This became the core of the wealthy resort attraction which grew into the Palm Beach we know today.
