❤️ THE greatest in history - Sgt. Reckless. 🫡

07/04/2026

If you're friends with me, you should be aware of my sentiments regarding veterans, so I'm bringing it up. I'm fairly confident that I already know two individuals who will assist, but I'm hopeful that I'll receive more responses, as this is a pressing concern. Twenty-two veterans succumb to their struggles daily. May I request that two friends or family members copy and repost this message? Someone's life may depend on it. ❤️‍🩹 Call: Veterans Crisis Line, Dial 988 then press 1, or Veteran's Hotline, 800-273-8255. I'm asking for just two individuals to respond with 'done'. More than two would be wonderful!

Soapy Pony Sunday! Volunteer, Allison, gives Graymond a much needed spa treatment. Graymond, a grey thoroughbred, lives up to his birthright to earn the nickname “Pig Pen” like any other grey horse worth their salts. Dirt baths, p**p printing, and tangling his mane and tail with sticks and pinecones are among his favorite hobbies. He sure didn’t mind the extra attention.

Sergeant Glider likes to splash in his water so he needs an external trough to keep his stall bedding dry. Atreides usually wants to do whatever Glider is doing, but Glider doesn’t always want to share. 🌊 Glider, unfortunately suffers from anhidrosis, which means he doesn’t sweat when his body gets stressed with extreme temperatures. It is critical that he have multiple fans on him, be turned out at night instead of during the day, and have extremely limited exercise, if at all, in certain conditions.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that certain remedies can ease the symptoms of anhidrosis, but there is no known cure at this time. He undergoes acupuncture, specialty electrolyte supplementation, ice baths as needed, frequent body clipping to reduce the hair coat, yes, we’ve tried the patches, he had a keg of beer last year that did not help, he won’t drink the vodka that’s so many swear by and I don’t blame him! Does he look like a vodka drinker to you?

His and his crossties. Sargent Glider “Floof” and Atreides wonder what they’re in for- will it be arena work or trail rides? Either way, they know loving scritches and snacks will follow. 🍎

There’s always snacks. 🍪

Always. Snacks. 🍬

First vet exam and primary assessment:
She’s very weak behind overall, front left is still suspicious, some effusion at her right stifle, NEEDS 150-200LBS ADDED for proper body condition, and her extensive bloodwork will be back next week. Teeth are in horrible shape and will be addressed very shortly. She was a very good girl for the veterinary team and they continually remarked at her lovely temperament and kind face. They can see why we are specifically placing her in our Veterans program.

We aren’t a rescue. We aren’t a therapy program (yet). But a “fairy godmother” named Ally Reed introduced us to this angel’s plight and we had to make her part of the family NOW. Our team members Ally Reed, Gregory Gargiso, Allison Lampe, and Tara Lou have mobilized immediately to get her started back to health and soundness. Babe has given new urgency and purpose to the daily grind in ways words cannot describe. Her kind eyes and appreciative nuzzles have melted our hearts while we work. She doesn’t know it, but she’s already providing therapeutic experiences to many of us in this process.

To Do/Being Done list so far:
1.) Veterinary lameness exam pending
2.) Summer sores are being dressed and covered consistently. Veterinary intervention (debridement and injections) to commence shortly. ✅
3.) Corrective farrier to collaborate with veterinarian for new plan. ✅
4.) Bathing and body clipping to ease the heat and help address scurf and skin issues. ✅
5.) Carefully and slowly increasing both quantities and quality of forage, concentrates, and supplements. ✅
6.) Reintroducing to grazing pastures carefully to not shock her digestive system. ✅
7.) Fly protocol to protect weeping eyes and open wounds from becoming new summer sores. ✅
8.) Masterson Method bodywork by both Ally and Greg. ✅
9.) Strengthening program to begin upon results from vet/farrier/chiropractor.
10.) Dental exam to be performed by veterinarian.

Day One of her new chapter entailed a loving bubble bath courtesy volunteers Allison and Greg, brand new fly boots, a new stall with TWO FANS AND CLEAN SHAVINGS, and some Masterson Method bodywork by her Fairy Godmother, Ally.

Tonight, newly clean and dry, she will get a professional haircut with the body clippers by Tara Lou.
