OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupat

ion as an opportunity to serve society;
Third: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Charlie kicked things off in full summer‑desert style 😎🌵 and led the Flag Salute. Priscilla (only 2 meetings left!) welcomed everyone — including the long‑lost Mark Fruchtman, who apparently thought he was at the doctor and stuck out his tongue 😂👅.

Tom introduced our speaker, Michael Phipps‑Russell from Loving All Animals 🐶🐱. Mike shared big GOOD NEWS: a new 11,801‑sq‑ft facility opening in Indio this fall 🎉 plus a possible new vet college coming to the county. Huge wins for our furry friends!

Then Carol Pipitone, glowing in ShelterBox green 💚, brought up Don Crost, who once drove his 1953 Chevy pickup down Route 66 to raise funds 🚗💨. Great stories, great fellowship!

Carol Winston won the pot 💰 and donated it right back — thank you Carol!
Charlie wrapped us up with the Four‑Way Test 🙌 before we braced for the desert heat 🔥.

Don’t forget to sign up for the “Changing the Wheel” party on June 30th 🎡🎈 — farewell Priscilla, welcome Maryalice!

🔥 **You know it’s HOT in Coachella Valley** when half the crew shows up on Zoom! 🥵💻

Attendance was a little light today (we’re blaming the weather 🌞 100%), but squeezing closer together made it feel lively again 😄
* Carol Winston led the flag salute 🙌 (with special attention to “right hand over left heart”… some of us are still working on that due to injuries! 😅)
* 🎉 Special guest Dick Folkers joined us from the Bay Area—**39 years** with Palm Desert Rotary! An incredible achievement Dick, thanks for dropping in 👏👏
* 💡 Guest speaker Pete Serbantes shared about *The Exception*, a nonprofit helping people level up their lives through:
* Family support 🤝 * Apprenticeships 🛠️ * Leadership development 📈 * Financial literacy 💰 (Now open on Cook Street!)
Leroy reminded us of the "Changing of the Wheel" on June 30th. See him for tickets
Palm Valley delivered some cookies to the tables, but there were far to many for us diet conscious to finish!
With an early finish, we rolled into 💵 Happy Dollars, 🎟️ the drawing, and plenty of chatting to wrap up the week 🗣️
