Our crews responded to a working structure fire this morning in the Windmill Pointe community. 🔥🚒
The initial 911 call was received at 0634 hours, prompting a response from East Lake, Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor, Sunstar, and Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
The Squad 57 crew arrived first on scene and reported a garage fire with smoke showing from a residential structure. Thanks to the rapid response of all responding units, firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and limit the extent of the damage.
A notable factor in this incident was the homeowner’s immediate call to 911 upon discovering smoke. Her prompt actions allowed emergency responders to be dispatched without delay, with crews arriving on scene within approximately three minutes of dispatch. The combination of an early notification and aggressive fire suppression efforts by our firefighters confined the majority of the damage to the room of origin and helped preserve thousands of dollars in property and personal belongings.
Fortunately, no firefighters, residents, or pets were injured during the incident. The homeowners expressed their sincere appreciation for the professionalism, rapid response, and decisive actions of all firefighters involved. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
