Top Gun Award Recognition

Officer Murphy, currently in training, demonstrated strong initiative and awareness during a recent patrol contact involving a group of individuals.

After several subjects left the area, Officer Murphy recognized indicators that warranted further attention. He took the lead in checking the surrounding area, including nearby trash receptacles. His efforts quickly paid off.

Officer Murphy located the first of three discarded fi****ms, setting the tone for a continued search that resulted in all three weapons being safely recovered.

For his leadership and role in removing these fi****ms from the community, Officer Murphy was awarded the Top Gun Award.

Press Release: Attempted Homicide Arrest

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Palm Springs Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of S. Palm Canyon Dr. regarding a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with a laceration to his head. The victim provided limited information, stating he had been attacked by an unknown male who fled northbound in a white pickup truck occupied by a male driver and a female passenger.

Officers located a white Ford F-150 matching the description and conducted a traffic stop. The male driver had injuries consistent with being involved in an altercation. During the investigation, officers contacted a witness who assisted in identifying the detained male as the suspect.

The suspect, James Fuller, 41, of Palmdale, was arrested without incident and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio for Attempted Homicide (664/187(a) PC) and a parole violation.
