Another seed planted in the garden of The Mark Foundation
Scott's story , 2014 -2015-2016 continuing to deal and heal
We met in August of 2014 when he moved into TMF
It has been a sanctuary in my own personal storms in life starting with the death of my Farther, the same year I divorced my third and last life and business partner losing home and business stability. I arrived here in 2007 with a heavy soul along with a new mission yet to unfold and to be told .
Back to the summer of 2014 Scott arrived just before I went to the East Coast, picking up a child hood friend who wanted to pursure her lifelong dreams, our living together was not good for either of us, she left soon after arriving . Scott was a third eyehe shared wisdom without judgment, I was able to deal and heal forgiving myself and my friend while making a new friend .
Scott stayed until October 2014 with his dog Mowg's, Oh Mowg's a black poodle with a tooth that protrudes:) the day after Scott moved in he needed to fly to SF for business, so Mowg's hung with me and my pups on his first day friends for life .
The rest of the time Scott worked remotely enjoyed the pool, hikes the usual attractions PS has to offer. We shared many moments and conversations a nice beginning of a friendship, my door would always be open so would his .
Just so happened Scott's job shifted again bringing him back to the Desert as early as late March 2015 staying at TMF while in transition again . Scott had a few new job possibilities in Palm Springs also in Arizona. The opportunity in Arizona would bridge a gap in distance for Scott to re connect with his sister after many years being estranged. I saw little of Scott and Mowg's he was traveling often back and forth between here and Arizona for interviews and reconnecting with his sister. When he was home he seemed to sleep a lot, I kept a watchful eye yet did not intrude . late-April Scott stopped in to let me know he would be going to Arizona for a week I was concerned he did not look good so much so I said som**hing .
Soon after Scott contacted me he said" Jeff I won't be coming home any time soon, I have been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma cancer being admitted now" . His lifelong friend Paul flew out to Arizona to care for Scott during his life and death battle for 8 months straight. I with Nataly a TMF volunteer took the drive to Arizona picking up Mowg's when his sister decided she was unwilling or able to take on the extra task.
Paul drove Scott back to PS in November 2015 , Scott came home from the Hospital Christmas Eve hospital bed and all .
Yesterday he left my room to move back into his cottage without his hospital bed …. Yesterday I took him to PT and saw him walk for the first time.
Scott's story continues with love ,courage , laughter and a community/family through TMF and our dedicated volunteers !
Scott has the determination drive and will to heal, deal, walk and work again!
Scott is the embodiment of who, what ,why and how TMF can and does make a difference in our community.
As Scott said just the other day there are no clients just friends
For the past five years I have solely (soulfully ) funded TMF .
2016 after 5 sustainable years TMF will be seeking outside sources to raise funding to increase services.
I have mentioned Annie's story now Scott's story there are a few others which I will be sharing .
My mission in starting TMF was to aid those in need , if there is a Annie , Scott, Patrick, Toby , Eric, John, Betsy, to name a few there are more
Namaste , Jeff
