Calling all junior rangers! The Jr. Ranger Expo is coming to Indian Canyons on Oct. 10, 2026. Entry is from 10 a.m. to noon, kids 17 and under get in free, and one adult enters free with each child. Get to know some of the amazing desert plants and animals you might spot on the trails, including the California Barrel Cactus (Kúpaš), the Roadrunner (Púwiš), the Rattlesnake (Mésaxa) and the Beavertail Cactus (Mánal). A female bighorn seen near the Trading Post in Palm Canyon in Indian Canyons this week. Peninsular bighorn sheep are listed on the federal endangered species list, making sightings like this a special reminder of the wildlife that calls our canyons home. If you are lucky enough to spot one on the trails, remember to admire from a distance and give them plenty of space.
