Today, we honor the Americans who gave their lives in service to this country and the freedoms we share.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who never returned home, the generations of service members and military families who carried the weight of sacrifice on behalf of our nation.

We remember them with gratitude, respect, and humility.

From all of us at HRC Palm Springs • Coachella Valley, we honor the fallen and thank all who have served.🇺🇸

⚠️Classrooms across the country are under pressure, and educators need real support.

HRC Foundation’s Welcoming Schools has released its FY26 Annual Report, showing both the challenges facing school communities and the impact of practical, values-based educator training.

This year, Welcoming Schools trained more than 30,000 educators and reached more than 1.6 million students. The report also shows educator responsiveness rising from 55% to 87% as educators received stronger tools to navigate bias, bullying, family diversity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and support for transgender and non-binary students.

✨ HRC Palm Springs • Coachella Valley is sharing this HRC Foundation resource because inclusive schools matter here, too. Our local Steering Committee work helps fund and strengthen HRC’s broader fight for LGBTQ+ equality, while HRC Foundation programs like Welcoming Schools provide educational resources that support students, families, and educators.

👩🏾‍🎓 Every student deserves a school where they are safe, respected, and seen.

🍎 Every educator deserves the tools to help make that possible.

🧐 🫴 Read the FY26 Welcoming Schools Annual Report and share it with educators, parents, caregivers, school staff, and youth-serving professionals in your network.

Today, on Harvey Milk Day, we honor the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, one of the nation’s first openly gay elected officials.
Harvey believed visibility matters. He believed hope matters.

At a time when LGBTQ+ communities continue to face political attacks, discrimination, and violence, his message still resonates deeply: “You gotta give them hope.”

HRC Palm Springs • Coachella Valley remains committed to that work through advocacy, visibility, and protecting the next generation.
Hope will never be silent. 🌈

Pride Month is also a time to lift up the coalition partners helping shape culture, visibility, and acceptance across our community.

GLAAD is hosting Pride and Progress Nashville on Friday, June 5, during CMA Fest. This private evening will celebrate LGBTQ trailblazers and allies in country music, including voices using their platforms to tell the truth, increase visibility, and support equality.

This is not an HRC event or collaboration, but we are happy to help share it for our friends and coalition partners at GLAAD, especially for supporters, friends, and followers who may be in Nashville or connected to the region.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Last Sunday evening, our May Federal Club Mixer was a huge success! Hosted at the beautiful Spanish-style home of longtime ally and friend Austyn Wells 🧡

✨️ Liz Sklar (Events & Member Activations Co-chair), created an incredible welcome reception and gorgeous charcuterie spread for our guests.

✨️Marcy Welland (Federal Club Co-chair), was in attendance to ensure member experience was positive and any FC member feedback was received with full attention.

✨️HRC Palm Springs • Coachella Valley Steering Committee leadership shared updates and insights throughout the gathering.

✨️Paul (Federal Club Co-chair & National Board Governor) updated guests on upcoming events including Equality Food & Wine Fest (June 13), Bowling for Equality (June 28), and current Steering Committee Co-chair volunteer opportunities.

✨️Andy Noriega II (Digital Engagement Chairperson & National Board Governor) shared takeaways from HRC’s national leadership summit, Equality in Action, along with updates on digital engagement efforts and expanding the Steering Committee visibility throughout the Coachella Valley.

✨️Brian O’Connor (National Boards of Directors) shared insights on HRC’s national work, discussed the organization’s endorsement process, answered questions surrounding the current California gubernatorial primary, and spoke about the committee’s growing coalition and community partnership efforts.

🌟 One of the best moments of the evening was having several Federal Club members volunteer to sign up for upcoming event shifts and committee support. That kind of commitment is exactly what keeps this movement strong.

💙💛 Federal Club members are at the heart of this work. Sustaining support helps fund the people and infrastructure behind the fight for equality. Advocacy, leadership training, organizing, visibility, outreach, and federal engagement efforts all depend on sustaining donors.

🤝Want to be part of where community and action meet? Join Federal Club and stand with us year-round.
