Palm Springs Community Middle School, (PSCMS), will be implementing a Facility Dog in early 2016 for more than 300 students serviced in the Exceptional Student Education, (ESE), programming on our General Education Comprehensive School Campus. PSCMS will receive a most generous grant of $5,000 dollars from PetSmart on November 19, 2015 at 10:30 am at the PetSmart community store on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. across from the West Palm Beach Outlet Mall. Exceptional Student Education, (ESE), children and teachers benefiting from this grant will be at the store to participate in the ceremony. The donation will be used to purchase specific technology and multi-sensory reading programs to support the “Reading Lab” - Apple iPad program for these specific students with disabilities.
The Palm Springs Students benefiting the most from this generous grant will be receiving services in the following programs: Deaf/ Hearing Impairments, Intellectual Disabilities, Language and Speech Impairments, Physical Impairments, Vision Impairments, Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities, Disabilities of Autism Spectrum, and Learning Disabilities.
The grant, facility dog, and complete reading initiative was the dream and vision of our very own Dr. Sheri Predmore, Exceptional Student Education Coordinator at Palm Springs Community Middle School. Her advocacy for our special needs students is never ending and she was determined to have this lofty goal come to fruition.
