2nd Show Added to Sold Out Performance by Popular Demand

Palmdale Playhouse Adds Second Scot Bruce Elvis Tribute Show
7 p.m. performance is sold out; tickets remain available for
newly added matinee on Saturday, May 23

Due to popular demand, the City of Palmdale has added a second performance of Scot Bruce: A Tribute to the King at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th St. East, on Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m. The previously announced 7 p.m. performance is sold out, but tickets remain available for the newly added matinee.

Tickets are just $2.50 as part of the City’s ongoing America 250 celebration, which honors the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding.

“The response to this show has been outstanding, and we are excited to add a second performance so more residents can enjoy it,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “As part of Palmdale’s America 250 celebration, this is exactly the kind of event we hoped to offer: affordable, memorable and rooted in music that has helped shape American culture.”

Bruce has an uncanny resemblance to Elvis, a powerhouse voice and an electrifying stage presence that has thrilled audiences across the country. Scot Bruce: A Tribute to the King brings the sound, style and energy of Elvis Presley to life for audiences of all ages.

Whether you grew up memorizing every word of “Hound Dog” or are discovering Elvis Presley’s music for the first time, this show captures the swagger, charisma and musical power that made the King of Rock ’n’ Roll one of history’s most iconic entertainers. Travel through time as Bruce relives Elvis’ early rockabilly hits at Sun Records, through his glittering Vegas era, in a performance celebrating the legacy of an American cultural icon.

“The Palmdale Playhouses continues to draw top quality entertainment, and we’re proud to offer a great day out that doesn’t cost a fortune,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “Scot Bruce brings Elvis’ music to life in a way that connects generations, from longtime fans to those discovering these songs for the first time.”

Palmdale’s Young Voices Fill the Palmdale Playhouse with Songs of America

The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir takes the stage at the Palmdale Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East, on May 16 to honor our nation with Americana: Singing the Stories of America, a rousing, heart-filled musical journey through the soul of the United States that will have you humming all the way home.

Performed by talented, local young singers, Americana weaves together beloved folk tunes, powerful spirituals and soaring patriotic anthems into a unified celebration of the American spirit, past and present, as Palmdale celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“Palmdale is a community that exemplifies and celebrates the best of America,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “When our young people take the stage to honor our heritage through music, it reminds us that our City is founded on the legacy of hard work, creativity and unity. The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir always puts on a fantastic performance, and Americana is the kind of show that brings Palmdale together.”

Two shows are scheduled, a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students, active-duty military and children 12 and under.

“Presenting a full concert at the Palmdale Playhouse gives our young people a professional venue to perform at the highest level,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir consistently offers high-quality programs that demonstrate the importance of investing in arts education.”

Fitness Trails Complete

Fresh upgrades to the fitness trails are now complete at Mariposa Park, and Whit Carter Park.

Funded through the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access for all Act of 2018 Proposition 68 Per Capita grant, the project included newly installed exercise equipment, improved surfacing, updated signage, and enhanced accessibility features. The City’s Facilities & Maintenance Crew lead and oversaw the work across the exercise trail areas at each park.

Palmdale Farmers Market Moves to Sam Yellen Park, Starting May 1

New location promises fresh experience for shoppers this season

Fresh produce, local vendors and live family-friendly entertainment are returning to Palmdale this spring as the City kicks off its seasonal farmers market. This year, the beloved tradition relocates to a new home at the recently redeveloped Sam Yellen Park, located at 5100 E. Ave. S, creating an enhanced experience for residents and visitors alike.

The weekly gathering will take place every Friday from 5-9 p.m., beginning May 1 and running through Sept. 25. Palmdale’s Music in the Park, live entertainment by local musicians and performers, will enhance the atmosphere on the first Friday of every month. The market will be closed July 3 for the Independence Day holiday weekend.

“The Farmers Market is a cornerstone of Palmdale’s community connection and relocating it to Sam Yellen Park elevates this annual tradition,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “This award-winning destination represents our commitment to creating vibrant spaces where families can come together. We’re not just offering fresh fruits and vegetables, we’re building a sense of belonging and strengthening the bonds that make Palmdale a wonderful place to call home.”

Sam Yellen Park’s $18.5 million Phase II expansion opened in October 2025 and provides the perfect setting for families to browse the vendor booths, pick up dinner ingredients and explore the expanded playgrounds and open space.

“Palmdale’s weekly Farmers Market strengthens our local economy by providing small business owners and agricultural vendors with direct access to customers,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “It’s a one-stop opportunity to support growers, let your kids run around while you enjoy live music and shop. Our Farmers Market delivers real value to our residents and helps bring people together.”

For more information about the market, visit https://www.cityofpalmdaleca.gov/1402/Palmdale-Farmers-Market or contact Parks and Recreation at 661/267-5611.
