Long, long ago before the Boom Box...
I had one of these portable record players when I was a kid. It came with a little plastic gadget that fit over the spindle so you could also play 45s also known as “singles”. It was the one top 40 hit song, with another cut from the album on side B.
I also remember a marketing gimmick with paper records on the backside of cereal boxes. You cut it out with a pair of scissors. It had some kind of plastic coating on the surface and you could feel the grooves. It actually played quite well. I got mine off a box of Post Alphabet cereal (do they make that anymore?) It was the Archies “Sugar, Sugar”.
