Palmersville personnel responded to the landing zone this afternoon for 2 inbound Air Evac Helicopters. 2 fire apparatus and 10 personnel set up landing zones for both helicopters and established a safe zone which includes blocking off entrances to the area and having personnel guard the front and rear rotors of the aircrafts.

Around 10:00pm Wednesday evening, Latham Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the Dukedom, TN community near the TN/KY state line. LDFD immediately requested mutual aid from Palmersville VFD. PVFD responded with 2 fire apparatus and 8 personnel. Before arriving on scene, personnel discovered the reported fire was a rubbish pile smoldering and PVFD staged apparatus at LDFD station while crews worked to extinguish the rubbish fire. All fire personnel returned to service around 11pm

The Palmersville Volunteer Fire Department responded to 2 incidents today.

The first was to block traffic and set up warning cones for an pole holding internet lines that fell into the road on Hwy 190 in front of CJ's Restaurant mid-day today. Please use caution when coming and going from the restaurant, the line is down across the driveway. There is no power going through this line, WCMES has been to the scene and verified this information. Frontier advised they will be out to repair it Thursday morning.

The second was early afternoon to set up a Landing Zone for a medical incident where the patient was flown by helicopter to the hospital.

Please keep Doug in your thoughts and prayers as he heads to Oregon with American Red Cross

Captain Doug Wheaton, EMA volunteer, Firefighter, and Red Cross volunteer is deploying today with the American Red Cross to Bend, Oregon to assist with the Hidden Forest Wildfire. The Volunteer State still lives up to it's name!

PVFD was honored to attend a recognition lunch provided by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) held on July 29th. PVFD was awarded $52,626 through the Volunteer Fire Department Education and Training Grant (VFEAT) this year to purchase 4 new complete SCBAs and 3 new sets of turnout gear for our volunteers. PVFD is grateful for the TN SFMO and Governor Lee’s office for their continued investment in our department and other rural communities across our state. Without this grant opportunity we would not have been able to make these necessary equipment upgrade to keep our volunteers safe as they work to keep you safe
