Thank you to the Palmetto Bay Business Association (PBBA) for hosting yesterday’s Networking Lunch with Palmetto Bay Police. Sergeant Chang, Deputy Judge, and Deputy Collins from our Municipal District discussed current crime statistics, answered questions, and spoke about the free safety courses and crime prevention programs offered by the Village. We’re so thankful to our men and women in uniform for working so hard to keep us safe, and thank you to the PBBA for bringing the community together for important events like this!

Protect Your Property! 🏠

Various methods may be used to minimize flooding. If the first-floor level of your property is lower than the “Base Flood Elevation” (elevation of the 1% annual chance flood, based on the FEMA maps), consider elevating your structure, if possible, or elevating electrical and mechanical equipment.

If a flood is imminent, property can be protected by sandbagging areas subject to the entry of water into living spaces. Move valuables and furniture to higher areas of the dwelling to minimize damages.

Yesterday evening, our community gathered at the University of Miami to honor the lives lost to overdose and stand in support of their families and loved ones.

Proclamations recognizing Overdose Awareness Month were presented alongside officials from Miami-Dade County and the City of Coral Gables, reaffirming our shared commitment to raising awareness, supporting those affected, and remembering those we have lost.

A special thanks to the University of Miami Sandler Center, Student Health Service, URecovery and Allies, and No More Dead Homies for creating a space for remembrance, compassion, education, and action.

The event, featuring name readings and candle lighting, showcased that each overdose victim was a loved individual.

The proclamation commits to remembering the lost, supporting recovery, aiding families, and ensuring access to lifesaving resources, treatment, and compassion.
