Heads up everyone, we've got a slight risk for severe weather this evening. This is a great time to make sure your phones are charged ahead of time, check the batteries in your flashlights, and make sure you've got more than one way to receive alerts related to weather. This could be your phone, your computer, television, local radio stations, and of course NOAA weather radio is the gold standard for weather alerts.

A slight warning doesn't mean we should be complacent. We don't have to panic, just have a plan of what you'll do if severe weather comes, stay weather aware, and if the need arises put your plan into action.

Please stop. No really, we love you guys, and you have every right to get a burn permit and burn things in your yard right now, but PLEASE STOP. The Montgomery County Fire Department has seen an extreme rash of brush and field fires with multiple fires per day over the last couple weeks.

We know the weather is beautiful and it's great to get some outside stuff done, but it's also dry and has been windy recently.

If you do burn we ask that you have water and tools on hand to contain the fire, pay extra attention to ensure no flammables, dry grass, or anything else is near the location you're burning.

Again, we're not telling you you're not allowed to burn, if you're going to we suggest getting a permit at https://burnsafetn.org which is currently required by law, but we are strongly suggesting and practically begging that you don't bur outdoors or if you do have it in a barrel or container, have water and tools onsite to contain it if it escapes that container and most importantly, watch it closely and continuously until it's 100% out.

Safe Debris Burning It isn't fire season in Tennessee right now, but now is the best time to prepare for wildfires. Take steps now to defend your home and community from wildfires. The Scammers are already kicking off the new year!

Many of us have dealt with scams regularly. A common scam we have had reported to our office in the past few days have reported to come from Lt. Bishop Delaney. They will also try to refer you to other members of leadership in an attempt to verify themselves.

Many of our leadership and supervisory staff are listed on our website, so it is easy to find official names to impersonate.

Personnel from our office will not call you to request money over the phone. If you receive a call stating they are from the Sheriff’s Office, and you are concerned about the validity of it, you can call our main office at 931-648-0611.

Do not call any number they provide you.

Let’s start this year off right and keep your money where it belongs, in your own pocket.
