📢 Police Commission Board – Information:

The following information was read prior to our recent Public Hearing regarding the formation of a Police Commission Board. We are sharing it here to provide clear facts and help address some of the questions and miscommunications surrounding the board’s purpose, membership, and structure.

This provides residents with a seat at the table—a way to share concerns, ask questions, and be an active part of the process. It is an opportunity to help build something that works for our residents, our Police Department, and our Village as a whole.

📢 Budget Update & Clarification:

It has been brought to our attention that some misinformation is being purposefully shared among residents. This does not support our goal of unity and transparency within the community.

As required by law, a notice of public hearing must be posted at least 7 days in advance of the hearing date. Due to timing logistics, the draft that was sent to print included proposed raises for Board members; however, it is important to clarify that the Board never intended to take raises this year.

Residents who received copies of the budget last week were advised that the Board would not be taking raises and the versions distributed reflect that. They were also informed that the budget remains in draft form and is not finalized in any way at this time because the increase in costs this year has been significant, and we are continuing daily efforts to reduce expenses wherever possible.

Although the budget remains in draft form, copies are available for residents who do not wish to wait until it is finalized. These may be obtained through the Clerk’s Office during regular business hours or by emailing [email protected].

As always, we welcome questions and we encourage all residents to attend upcoming Board meetings, particularly those related to the budget. Transparency matters, and we remain committed to ensuring our community has accurate, factual information.

🚨 HEAP Assistance Deadline Approaching – Act Now! 🚨

Mayor Perry received the attached news release from NYSEG this morning with updates and helpful resources regarding the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP):

🗓 Deadline: April 7 (or until funding is exhausted)

HEAP is a federal grant program that helps eligible households:

Pay for heating and energy costs
Cover emergency energy needs
Assist with repairs and weatherization

💡 Eligible households may receive:

One regular HEAP benefit per season
Additional emergency HEAP benefits (if qualified)
Potential bill credits through programs like EAP and EEAP

If you or someone you know may qualify, don’t wait—funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

💧 Water Bills - Mailed 3/6

Water bills were mailed out last Friday and are due on April 15th. If you haven’t received yours yet, please keep an eye out — or you can view your bill anytime on our website at palmyravillageny.gov.

💧 Please remember:
The Village bills for water only, as of 9/1/25.

Sewer charges are billed separately by the Wayne County Water & Sewer Authority on a green postcard. These are not duplicate bills — both must be paid.

Late penalties will not be waived.

💧 Drop Box: Located to the right of our front door, under the window

🧮 The Village of Palmyra will be holding our first Budget Workshop for the 2026-2027 fiscal year on Monday, March 2 at 6:00pm at the Village Hall with our regularly scheduled board meeting to follow immediately after.
