Valley Link Update:

As some of you are aware, the Board of Supervisors (BOS) will consider a resolution opposing Valley Link's Joshua Falls–Yeat proposed transmission line at next week’s regularly scheduled meeting on April 1. As the BOS was informed last evening, Valley Link has also agreed to present and take questions from the Board at this meeting.

The meeting will begin at 5:00pm and will be held at the High School auditorium.

There has already been a budget-related Public Hearing advertised for 7:00 PM on April 1, so we will need to begin that hearing as close to 7:00 PM as possible. To accommodate both items, the Board has established the following agenda:

1. The meeting will begin at 5:00pm with Valley Link’s presentation, followed by questions from the Board.

2. The Board will then consider the resolution opposing the Joshua Falls project.

3. The Board will then open a Public Comment period.

4. The Board will then proceed to the advertised budget-related Public Hearing item at or shortly after 7:00pm.

As with any Public Comment period, citizens may speak on any County issue (including Valley Link in this case), except for items on the agenda that have their own Public Hearing. Thus, if you wish to speak on the budget-related item, you will need to do so during that Public Hearing.

Public Comment details:

Public Comments will be limited to 3 minutes per person or 90 minutes total, and you must sign up in order to speak. If more than 30 people sign up, the 90 minutes will be divided evenly among those who signed up.

Budget Public Hearing notice:

This hearing was originally advertised to take place at the Circuit Court for 7:00pm. If you plan to speak on this item, please note that it will now be held at the High School auditorium, and you will need to be there to participate.

Several of you have reached out regarding ER26-1563-000, a filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that could set a precedent for fast-tracking major utility projects—from several years to as little as 10 months—such as Valley Link’s proposed Joshua Falls–Yeat project.

As of today, the Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors has officially submitted comments to FERC in opposition to ER26-1563-000, specifically citing concerns related to the Joshua Falls–Yeat project.

Over the past few weeks, several people have shared concerns or questions about staying informed on important County matters—especially items coming before the Board of Supervisors or Planning Commission.

At Tuesday’s Town Hall, I encouraged folks to pick up the Fluvanna Review each week. This is where the County advertises all upcoming public hearings, as required by state law. A few people asked where to find copies, so I’m sharing a graphic with all the pick-up locations (you’ll also find this info in each edition of the Review). You can also follow them on Facebook to stay updated on your news feed!

Another great way to stay informed is by subscribing to Fluvanna Area News (FAN) Mail, a free email service from the County that shares local updates and events. You can sign up using the link below! You can also get FAN Mail on your Facebook feed by following Fluvanna County, VA - Government!

10 years ago, I had the honor of meeting one of Fluvanna County’s most dedicated citizens, Fork Union Supervisor Mozell Booker.
Today, Mozell passed away at the age of 83.
We all are blessed to have known her and I will miss her words of wisdom and eagerness to share insight and perspective into the many facets of our County.

Her encouragement for me to get involved with Social Services and the Fluvanna Louisa Housing Foundations, I will be forever grateful.
You will be missed by so many.
