UTV Safety & Ordinance Reminder – Palmyra Police Department

The Palmyra Police Department has recently received several concerns from residents regarding the operation of UTVs (which, per definition, includes golf carts) and similar vehicles within city limits—particularly involving stop sign compliance, underage operation, and general roadway safety.

To ensure the safety of both operators and the public, we are sharing the City of Palmyra’s current ordinance regarding UTV use. We encourage all residents and parents to review these regulations carefully.

Please keep the following in mind:
• All traffic control devices, including stop signs, must be obeyed
• Operators must meet all legal requirements outlined in the ordinance
• Vehicles must be operated in a safe and responsible manner at all times
• Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring minors operate these vehicles lawfully

Our goal is not just enforcement—but prevention. We want to avoid injuries and ensure everyone can safely enjoy our community.

Officers will continue to address violations as they are observed. We ask for the community’s cooperation in reinforcing these expectations with young operators.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping Palmyra safe.
