It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Lieutenant Howard W. Norcross.

Lieutenant Norcross dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community with honor, integrity, and compassion. Throughout his career he exemplified the values of law enforcement and left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

His commitment to public service, leadership, and mentorship will not be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him during this difficult time.

Preparation is key—having a plan, staying informed through emergency alerts, and keeping essential supplies on hand can make all the difference when every minute counts. Remember: when authorities advise you to shelter in place, staying inside, staying safe, and staying informed are critical steps in protecting your household and your community.

On June 5th, members of the Palmyra Police Department proudly participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run helping to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes.

We are honored to be part of this incredible tradition and to stand alongside law enforcement agencies across the state in support of such an inspiring cause.

Late Post:
Ahead of the senior prom, Det. Perkins and Officer Maresca brought a heavily damaged vehicle to speak with students about the real life consequences of driving under the influence. The vehicle serves as a powerful reminder that one poor decision can have life changing consequences.

The senior prom was a night filled with great memories, not tragedy. We would like to thank all of the students for making safe and responsible decisions and encourage them to continue doing so.

The Palmyra Police Department remains committed to providing students with information, resources, and real world examples that help them make smart choices both now and in the future. We look forward to continuing these important conversations and supporting our youth throughout the year.

As another school year comes to an end, the Palmyra Police Department would like to thank the students, teachers, and staff for a great year!

We're especially grateful for the opportunity to participate in our Adopt-A-Cop Program with the third-grade students. Building positive relationships with our youth is one of the most rewarding parts of community policing, and we enjoyed every visit throughout the year.

Pictured here is Officer Begonja who has been a part of the program for many years and continues to help strengthen the bond between the community and the police department.

The Palmyra Police Department would like to congratulate the 5th grade students of Charles Street Elementary School on successfully completing the LEAD - Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence program!

Throughout the program students learned valuable lessons about making positive choices, resisting peer pressure, building self-confidence, and developing the skills needed to lead safe and healthy lives.

We are incredibly proud of each student for their participation, engagement, and dedication throughout the course. We hope the lessons learned through LEAD will continue to guide them as they move forward in their education and beyond.

A special thank you to the teachers, school staff, parents, and everyone who helped make this program a success. Together we are investing in the future of our community and helping our youth build a strong foundation for success.

To celebrate Detective Perkins and Officer Maresca made sure to provide some cool and refreshing water ice and a game of kickball to wrap up a successful school year.

The Palmyra Police Department is excited to announce our 2026 Youth Police Academy, which will be held August 10th through August 14th!

This program is designed to provide students with a hands-on look at law enforcement while building leadership skills, teamwork, confidence, and positive relationships with police officers. Participants will learn about various aspects of policing through interactive activities, demonstrations, and educational presentations.

📅 Academy Dates:
August 10, 2026 – August 14, 2026

📚 Eligibility:
Students entering 7th and/or 8th grade in September 2026.

📝 Application Deadline:
Completed applications must be submitted no later than July 17, 2026.

The Palmyra Police Department proudly congratulates our newest Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO) Class I, Andrew Conover, on graduating from the SLEO Class I Gloucester County Police Academy on Friday, May 29th 2026.

Graduation from the academy represents hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving the community. We are proud of this accomplishment and excited to welcome our newest officer as they begin their law enforcement career serving the residents and visitors of Palmyra.

Riverfront Seniors Annual Picnic

The Palmyra Police Department was honored to be invited to attend the Riverfront Seniors Annual Picnic. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with members of our community, share stories, enjoy great food, and strengthen the relationships that make Palmyra such a special place to live.

We would like to thank the Riverfront Seniors for their invitation and hospitality. Events like these provide a great chance for us to connect with residents outside of our daily responsibilities and continue building positive relationships throughout our community.

Thank you for including us in this year's picnic. We appreciate the opportunity to spend the day with such a great group and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
