Today, Palmyra Fire Rescue would like to pause and recognize the true meaning of Memorial Day.

While many spend today with family, friends, and community gatherings, we must never forget that this day exists because of the brave men and women of the United States Military who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and our freedoms. Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

We honor those who gave their lives protecting this great country. These heroes came from communities just like ours, answered a call greater than themselves, and sacrificed everything so future generations could live free.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to all active-duty military personnel, veterans, and military families. Your commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering support of this nation deserve recognition not just today, but every day.

As first responders, we understand the meaning of service, sacrifice, and commitment to others. Today especially, we stand in remembrance alongside our military community and honor those who never made it home.

From all of us at Palmyra Fire Rescue, thank you to the fallen heroes of our armed forces. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten, and your legacy will continue to live on through the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Please take a moment today to reflect, remember, and honor those who gave everything for this great nation. If you are traveling or spending time with loved ones this holiday, please celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and stay safe.

🇺🇸 Never Forgotten. Forever Honored. 🇺🇸

🚨🐱 FOUND FUR MISSILE ALERT 🐱🚨

This adorable little supervisor was found hanging around the corner of Northwest St. and W Wisconsin St. Apparently they were conducting an unscheduled neighborhood patrol and forgot to tell their humans where they were going.

They are now safe and being spoiled at the Jefferson Humane Society while waiting for their family to come claim them! If this furry adventurer belongs to you or someone you know, please contact the Jefferson Humane Society.

Let’s help get this whiskered wanderer back home where they belong! 🐾❤️

Tonight, our department had the honor of celebrating one of our own as she begins an incredible new journey serving our country.

Our very own Nicole Snell will be deploying as part of her military service, and we wanted to make sure she knew just how much she means to all of us here at Palmyra Public Safety. Nicole has become an important part of our family over the last year, and while we are going to miss her greatly, we could not be more proud of her.

To help us send her off in style, MISSION BBQ generously donated enough food to feed our crew and then some! Their continued support of first responders and military personnel never goes unnoticed, and tonight was another example of them going above and beyond. We are incredibly appreciative of their kindness and generosity.

Tonight was also special because Nicole officially came off probation and received her helmet name badge — a proud milestone in her fire service journey. In addition, she was presented with an American flag that will remain draped over her locker while she is deployed. It will serve as a reminder to every member and visitor that one of our own is proudly serving this great nation.

Nicole, thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, and service to both our department and our country. We are proud of you, we will miss you, and we cannot wait to welcome you home.

Stay safe — your fire family will be waiting for your return

🚑 EMS Week 2026 🚑

This week, Palmyra Fire Rescue proudly recognizes and celebrates our EMS providers for the dedication, compassion, and professionalism they bring to our community every single day.

This year’s EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” perfectly represents what emergency medical services are all about. From dispatchers and first responders to EMTs, paramedics, nurses, law enforcement, and hospital staff — great patient care is truly a team effort. Working together allows us to provide the best possible care for those who need us most.

Whether it’s a major emergency, a lift assist at 2 AM, comforting someone on the worst day of their life, or simply being there when someone calls for help — our EMS personnel answer the call without hesitation. Their commitment to training, patient care, and serving others does not go unnoticed.

We are incredibly proud of the men and women of Palmyra Fire Rescue who continue to step up for this community day in and day out. Thank you for the long hours, missed holidays, sleepless nights, and the heart you put into this profession.

If you see one of our EMS providers this week, take a moment to thank them for all they do!

If you or someone you know has an interest in serving the great community of Palmyra, we are always looking for dedicated individuals who want to make a difference. Please reach out to Taylor Kazinski at [email protected] for more information.

From all of us at Palmyra Fire Rescue:
