Today, we proudly celebrate 3 years of services to the citizens and vistors of Fluvanna County.

Since becoming fully operational, our providers have remained committed to providing compassionate care to the citizens and visitors of Fluvanna County. Over the past three years, we have continued to grow as a department by increasing our staffing, expanding our coverage, strengthening our partnerships with neighboring agencies, and investing in resources needed to better serve our community. None of this would be possible without the continued support of our department leadership, county administration, volunteers, and the community we are honored to serve. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain dedicated to exemplifying our core values of selfless service, integrity, respect, excellence, and teamwork. We look forward to continuing to serve Fluvanna County with the same dedication for many years to come. Here’s to three incredible years, and many more ahead.

We’re excited to announce that our Kents Store station is officially staffed as of 08:00 this morning!

This station will be staffed daily from 08:00 until 20:00, and will transition to 24 hour staffing in the near future. This addition will improve our coverage and our ability to provide timely care to the community of Kents Store.

We think it’s especially fitting that this milestone happens to fall first day of EMS Week, a week dedicated to recognizing EMS providers around the country.

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Byrne as our operational medical director!

In his role as a U.S. Navy reservist, UVA Health’s Dr. Brendan Byrne was tasked with caring for the Artemis II astronauts, and preparing for a host of potential catastrophes as the four-person Artemis II crew ascended into space and returned to Earth. https://uvatoday.me/4uwLIsd

A warm and breezy day is expected across the region today. Mostly sunny and dry conditions will prevail, with afternoon high temperatures reaching the lower to mid 80s for inland areas. Immediate coastal locations will remain slightly cooler, with highs in the 70s.

Increased Fire Danger: Please be advised that there is an increased risk of fire danger today for central and eastern Virginia. The combination of dry conditions and breezy afternoon winds will make it easier for fires to start and spread. Please exercise caution and follow local burning regulations.

Looking Ahead: Moisture will begin to increase Wednesday into Thursday, bringing the potential for beneficial rainfall and a few scattered thunderstorms.

In EMS, it’s easy to get caught up in the fast pace of the job and overlook the fundamentals. Throughout the month of March, our providers participated in “Back to the Basics” training & annual CPR recertifications to reinforce core skills that are essential in delivering high-quality care.

This training wasn’t just for the newer providers, it also was an opportunity for seasoned personnel to refine their skills, share experience, and train alongside peers. Revisiting the basics ensures that even the simplest, most critical interventions are performed with confidence and precision under pressure.
