We are pleased to announce that the Cubberley Artist Studio Program juried artist call is now open for the 2027–2029 residency term.
CASP provides City-sponsored, affordable studio space for Bay Area artists at Cubberley Community Center, supporting artistic practice, creative community, and public engagement with the arts. The program includes individual and shared studios for long-term resident artists, with a minimum of 8 studios expected to be available beginning January 2027.
Most available studios are expected to be approximately 360 square feet, with some larger studios in the program ranging up to approximately 960 square feet. Studios include sink access, and resident artists have 24-hour access to their studios. Studios are intended for the creation of new, original artwork and may not be used as live/work spaces.
Beginning January 1, 2027, rental rates will be $1.17 per square foot per month for Palo Alto residents and $1.30 per square foot per month for non-residents, with annual increases of 2.75 percent in alignment with the City’s Municipal Fee Schedule.
Applications are open to practicing artists residing in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area, with preference given to Palo Alto residents and incumbent CASP artists in good standing. Artists working across a wide range of disciplines are encouraged to apply, including visual art, interdisciplinary practice, installation, public art, digital media, sound, performance, and social practice.
Applications will be reviewed by a four-member panel of arts professionals with strong connections to the Bay Area arts community, including one CASP alum.
Applications are due Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Applicants should review the full call and program guidelines carefully before applying, including eligibility, studio use requirements, application materials, review criteria, and CASP participation expectations.
