Please make sure to attend and show your support.

This group, our young, newly formed progressive organization alongside our dedicated party members, is doing important work here in Palo Pinto County.

It takes real courage to step forward in our rural communities, and I couldn’t be more proud of what they are building and accomplishing together.

Yesterday, we held our 2026 Palo Pinto County Democratic Convention, and I’m so proud of this group.

For those who may not know, the number of delegates each county sends to the State Convention is determined by Democratic voter turnout in the most recent gubernatorial election. Palo Pinto County has 6 delegates this year.

We may be a small county, but we are a dedicated, hardworking group, and we will represent Palo Pinto County proudly.

I’m especially excited to share that this year’s delegation is entirely new. We have our new County Chair, Jeff Brown, along with some incredible young leaders who have stepped up through the Palo Pinto Progressive group. Their energy, commitment, and willingness to lead give me so much hope for the future of our county.

County conventions are business meetings, and if you’re new to the process, they can feel a little overwhelming. But yesterday was also filled with good conversation, strong connections, and a shared commitment to moving our county forward.

I’m grateful for everyone who showed up, participated, and continues to stay engaged. Your time, your voice, and your willingness to serve matter more than you know.

As we look ahead to the State Convention in Corpus Christi, we’re excited, energized, and ready to represent Palo Pinto County with pride. We’ll be sharing more details soon so stay tuned.

Thank you to all of our Palo Pinto County Democrats who continue to show up, step up, and believe in the work.

A Note from the Palo Pinto County Democratic Chair about the most recent county election results.

Over the past several years, people across Texas and across the country have watched the Republican Party go through a lot of internal division. There are factions, labels, and constant debates about who is “conservative enough” or who belongs where in their party.

What we saw locally in the recent county chair race is simply part of that larger trend. It’s happening in counties all over Texas.

I’ve seen some people asking what this means and how Democrats should respond.

My answer is simple: the internal struggles of the Republican Party are not our responsibility!

Our responsibility is to stay focused on the work that matters to the people of Palo Pinto County.

Democrats should continue doing exactly what we’ve been doing showing up, helping neighbors, strengthening our communities, and standing up for working families. That means supporting access to health care, protecting Social Security and Medicare, investing in public education, and making sure rural Texans are not forgotten.

Political parties get back what they invest in.

If you invest your energy fighting each other, that’s what you get.

But if you invest your energy helping people and building stronger communities, that work speaks for itself.

So while others may be sorting out their internal battles, we’ll stay focused on the people of Palo Pinto County.

The failures of another party are not our business. Serving the people of Palo Pinto County is.

Thank you,
Carla Schoonover ~ Palo Pinto County Democratic Party Chair

A Note from the Outgoing Chair.

Serving as Chair of the Palo Pinto County Democratic Party has been an honor.

Over the last 10 years, we have worked together to rebuild and strengthen our local party. We have recruited precinct chairs, engaged new voters, supported candidates, organized events, and continued the important work of ensuring that Democratic voices in rural Texas are heard.

Rural organizing is not always easy, but it is incredibly meaningful work. What makes it successful is relational organizing, neighbors talking to neighbors, friends encouraging friends, and communities showing up for one another. That spirit has defined the work we have done here in Palo Pinto County, and I could not be more proud of what we have built together.

I am deeply grateful for the activists, volunteers, precinct chairs, and voters who have supported this work along the way. None of this would have been possible without the people who stepped forward to help strengthen our local party.

As we look ahead, we have been working on a thoughtful leadership transition. Jeff Brown will soon be stepping in as the next Chair of the Palo Pinto County Democratic Party. Jeff and I have been working together on a transition plan, and we will be co-chairing our County Convention on Saturday, March 21 at the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce.

This will be a great opportunity for everyone to come out, participate in the convention process, and meet Jeff. In the coming weeks we will also share more information about Jeff on this page, including his background and contact information.

The formal transition will take place at the Texas Democratic Party State Convention in June, where the responsibilities of County Chair will officially be handed off.

Although I will be stepping away from the official role of County Chair, I am not stepping away from the Democratic Party or the work we are doing. I will continue supporting our local efforts.

It has been a remarkable journey, and I am deeply thankful for the trust and support you have given me during my time as chair.

Let’s keep organizing. Let’s keep supporting one another. And together, let’s show people what rural Democrats can do in November.

🎉 Big news for Texas Democrats!

Today, the Texas Democratic Party alongside Texas Majority PAC, the House Democratic Campaign Committee, and Powered by People officially launched the 2026 statewide coordinated campaign: Texas Together.

This is the earliest coordinated launch in state party history and the most ambitious effort we’ve seen backed by a $30 million investment to organize, register voters, and turn out Democrats across all 254 counties.

Here’s what that means:

• Field offices across key regions
• Organizing in every county
• Free voter file access for candidates
• Major investment in turnout, research, and down-ballot races
• A real commitment to compete everywhere in Texas

For the first time ever, Democratic candidates have been recruited for every statewide, State House, State Senate, congressional, and State Board of Education race.

This is what coordinated infrastructure looks like. This is what early investment looks like. This is what unity looks like.

Texas Together isn’t just a slogan... it’s a strategy.

Stay tuned. The work starts now. 💙
