đźš’ PALO FIRE IS FILLING THE BOOT FOR MDA!
Starting Friday morning, Palo Fire will be hitting the streets and standing at the corner of 1st Street and Blair’s Ferry Road to Fill the Boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association!
With Covington being closed, we know traffic is going to be a little busier than normal. Please be patient and watch for our firefighters when you see us out collecting donations throughout the weekend.
100% of the money collected goes directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Your donations help MDA fund research, provide specialized care, support families, provide equipment assistance, and give kids living with neuromuscular diseases opportunities like MDA Summer Camp.
What is Fill the Boot?
The Fill the Boot campaign has a long history with the fire service. In 1952, families affected by muscular dystrophy approached firefighters in Boston and asked for their help raising money to fight the disease. Firefighters took to the streets with their boots and started collecting donations from the community. The effort was such a success that in 1954, the International Association of Fire Fighters officially made MDA its charity of choice. More than 70 years later, firefighters across the country continue that tradition by standing on street corners and asking their communities to help Fill the Boot.
So when you see us out there this weekend, slow down, say hi, and help us fill those boots! Every dollar makes a difference. ❤️🚒
Thank you, Palo, for always supporting us and the causes that are important to our community!
