Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it is a day of reflection and gratitude. We remember those who never came home, the families who carry their memories forward, and the legacy of service that continues to inspire generations.

As we gather with family and friends, fly our flags, and enjoy time together, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the heroes who gave everything for our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Join the Palo American Legion Post 679 on Memorial Day, May 25, at 11:00 AM for their Memorial Day Service honoring those who gave it all while serving our country. The service will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial on 1st Street. Refreshments will be served by the Palo American Legion Auxiliary following the ceremony.

From all of us at the Palo Fire Department, we thank and remember our fallen heroes today and every day.

Training nights like tonight are a huge part of making mutual aid operations run smoothly. Tonight, we trained alongside Monroe Township Fire Department going over our modified Minuteman hose lay while they demonstrated their Triple Lay hose deployment.

These are different methods of stacking and deploying preconnected hose lines from the fire truck pump outlets. There are many variations and techniques departments use, and understanding each other’s setups is critical when working together on emergency scenes.

Training together allows us to become more familiar with each other’s equipment and deployment styles so whether we are pulling hose from their trucks or they are deploying lines from ours, operations can happen quickly and efficiently.

This type of hands-on training helps minimize “zero impact time” on the fire scene and improves our ability to get water on the fire as fast and safely as possible. Huge thank you to Monroe Fire Department for spending the evening training with us!

Today we want to recognize and thank Firefighter Galvin for his years of dedicated service to the Palo Fire Department.

Since joining on November 5th, 2013, Galvin has been a dependable and committed member of our department and our community. Over the years, he not only answered the call time and time again, but also stepped into leadership—serving as a 2nd Lieutenant for seven years. In that role, he helped guide, mentor, and support fellow firefighters while ensuring our team operated at its very best.

His dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve have made a lasting impact on this department and the people we protect.

Please join us in thanking Firefighter Galvin for his service and wishing him all the best in his well-earned retirement. 🚒

Lots of meetings and countless volunteer hours go into planning every breakfast and fundraiser we put on. This year marked our 9th Annual Pancake Breakfast held in honor of Stephen Cook.

Today, we had the privilege of serving 888 people. The support you all continue to show us is truly incredible. Thank you to everyone—whether you came out and donated, grabbed a plate of breakfast, or simply helped spread the word.

A special thank you to Assistant Chief James Seely for leading the breakfast committee and helping ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Your leadership and dedication do not go unnoticed.

We couldn’t do this without our community.

Stay tuned for details on our 3rd Annual Fire in the Hole fundraiser. The committee is already hard at work planning another great event, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Your support means everything to us!

🚧 Road Closure Reminder for Pancake Breakfast! 🥞

We promise this isn’t a “detour of doom”… more like a scenic route to syrupy greatness. 😄

If you’re planning on going to our Pancake Breakfast, please note that Covington Road is currently closed. You’ll want to take Blair’s Ferry Road instead to make your way to us.

We know—detours are never ideal, and we truly apologize for the inconvenience. But trust us, that extra 4 minutes is a small price to pay for what’s waiting on the other side…

🥞 A plate stacked high with fluffy, golden pancakes
🎟️ Raffles that might just have you planning your next win before you even leave
👑 And of course, a visit from the one and only “Sausage King” Trent Miller himself serving up some of the best sausage links you’ve ever had

By the time you grab your first bite, that detour will feel like the best decision you made all day.

We can’t wait to see everyone—come hungry and ready for a great time!
