September is National Preparedness Month. The Palos Park Police Department encourages everyone to take a few simple steps now to be better prepared for emergencies.
✅ Build an emergency kit with water, food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and important documents.
✅ Make a family communication plan, including an out-of-area contact.
✅ Sign up for local emergency alerts and know how to receive official information.
✅ Consider the needs of children, older adults, pets, and neighbors.
✅ Review evacuation routes and keep your vehicle fueled and ready.

Preparedness helps our community respond more safely to emergencies—from severe weather and wildfires to power outages and other unexpected events.

Palos Park officers will be working in tandem with other regional law enforcement partners. Together, they will monitor traffic with intense scrutiny, looking for signs of intoxication, excessive speeding, and aggressive maneuvering.

The holiday also marks the end of law enforcement’s “100 Deadly Days of Summer” initiative, which focuses on raising awareness about traffic safety during a period when fatal crashes can increase.

PPPD officers are out making sure that people are abiding by the traffic laws and making sure everybody’s doing it in a safe manner

Please remember that (McCarthy Road will be closed between 96th Ave (Rt45) and 80th Ave. for The Palos Park Autumn in the Park Parade.

The parade starts at 1pm The event will be on the Village Green at 8901 W 123rd street. Road closures will begin at 1130am Please adjust your plans accordingly.
