City of Pampa Announces Shawn Myatt as New Chief of Police

PAMPA, Texas โ€” The City of Pampa is pleased to announce the selection of Shawn Myatt as the Cityโ€™s next Chief of Police. Myatt will officially assume his duties on October 1, 2026.

Myatt brings more than 28 years of police-chief-level leadership experience to Pampa, having served communities across Texas throughout his career. He currently serves as Chief of Police for the City of Bellmead, where he has led the department since July 2022.

Prior to Bellmead, Myatt served the City of Navasota as Chief of Police and later simultaneously served as Chief of Police and Assistant City Manager. Earlier in his career, he held progressive law enforcement leadership positions with several Texas municipalities, including serving as Police Chief, Public Safety Director, and Assistant City Manager.

Myatt holds a Master Peace Officer certification through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice. Myatt is a member of the Texas Police Chiefs Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

โ€œShawn brings not only an incredible amount of experience but a proven record of leadership to the City of Pampa,โ€ City Manager Shane Stokes said. โ€œWhat stood out throughout the selection process was not only his knowledge of law enforcement but also his knowledge of municipal government, having served in other capacities throughout his career. We love his commitment to developing people, building relationships and creating a culture of accountability and service. We believe Shawn will be a tremendous asset to the Pampa Police Department and to our community, and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to Pampa.โ€

Until Myatt assumes his new role on October 1, Brian Massey will continue to serve as Interim Chief of Police.

โ€œI also want to recognize Brian Massey for the outstanding job he has done leading the department during this transition,โ€ Stokes said. โ€œBrian stepped up when we needed him, provided stability and continued to move the department forward. His leadership and commitment to the men and women of the Pampa Police Department and to the citizens of Pampa have been greatly appreciated. Biran will continue to be a very integral part of the Pampa Police Department moving forward.โ€

Community Meet & Greet:

The community is invited to meet incoming Police Chief Shawn Myatt during a Meet & Greet on Monday, August 31, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at City Hall. The event will be held in the second-floor conference room.

Everyone is encouraged to stop by and welcome Chief Myatt to Pampa and have an opportunity to visit with him before he officially assumes his duties on October 1.

The City of Pampa looks forward to welcoming Chief Myatt and beginning this new chapter of leadership for the Pampa Police Department.

City of Pampa Partners with Texas Communities Group to Market and Manage Trust Properties

The City of Pampa is pleased to announce a new partnership with Texas Communities Group, LLC (TCG) to assist with the marketing and management of properties held by the City in trust. Through this partnership, TCG will work with the City of Pampa to manage and market eligible trust properties, with the goal of returning these properties to productive use and generating revenue for the community.

TCG will assist with the property management and sales process, including preparing properties for marketing, coordinating property information, advertising available properties, managing the bidding process, and assisting with the necessary documentation associated with the sale of trust properties. Trust properties are properties that have been acquired by a taxing entity following the foreclosure process and are held in trust for the benefit of the taxing jurisdictions involved.

Property information, including available properties and bidding opportunities, will be made available through TCGโ€™s property marketing platform. The partnership is part of the Cityโ€™s continued efforts to responsibly manage properties held in trust while encouraging investment, redevelopment, and community growth.

For more information regarding trust properties available through the City of Pampa, Texas Communities Group at 806-839-2724.

๐ŸšจHELP US KEEP OUR DUMPSTERS FOR HOUSEHOLD TRASH ๐Ÿšจ

The City of Pampa is seeing an increase in large and prohibited items being placed in City dumpsters.

City dumpsters are designated for regular household trash only. Unfortunately, we are finding more and more items that DO NOT belong in dumpsters, including:

๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Furniture
๐ŸŒณ Tree limbs, branches & fences
๐ŸงŠ Appliances
๐Ÿ”จ Construction & remodeling materials
๐Ÿ”ฉ Metal & scrap materials
๐Ÿชต Large or bulky items
๐Ÿšซ Other non-household waste

โš ๏ธ CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ARE BECOMING A SERIOUS PROBLEM!

We are seeing a significant amount of construction and remodeling debris being placed in City dumpsters. Construction materialsโ€”especially metalโ€”can cause costly damage to our sanitation trucks and dumpsters. These materials can also create safety hazards for City employees operating the equipment.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Please remember: City dumpsters are NOT intended for construction or remodeling projects.

โ™ป๏ธ HAVE LARGE ITEMS? USE OPERATION COMMUNITY PRIDE!

The City of Pampa's Operation Community Pride (OCP) provides curbside collection service to help residents properly dispose of larger items and debris that should not be placed in dumpsters.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn more about Operation Community Pride:
https://www.cityofpampa.org/departments/public_works/community_pride.php

๐Ÿ—๏ธ WORKING ON A LARGE CONSTRUCTION OR MAJOR CLEANING PROJECT?

Another option is to request a roll-off dumpster from the City landfill. A roll-off can be placed at your property for many of the larger items and materials we are currently seeing improperly disposed of in City dumpsters.

๐Ÿ“ž For questions about our roll-off program, contact the landfill at 806-664-1131.

๐Ÿš› RESIDENTS CAN ALSO USE THE LANDFILL

City of Pampa homeowners may dispose of up to 1,000 pounds of waste per month at the landfill. This provides another option for disposing of larger amounts of waste and materials that do not belong in neighborhood dumpsters.

Please take advantage of these services rather than placing prohibited materials in or around City dumpsters.

Improper items can fill dumpsters quickly and, more importantly, damage equipment, increase costs, and create safety concerns.

๐Ÿ“ข JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER:

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ CITY DUMPSTERS = HOUSEHOLD TRASH ONLY ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

Thank you for helping us protect City equipment, keep sanitation costs down, and keep Pampa clean!

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ† THANK YOU, PAMPA! WHAT A CELEBRATION! ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

After the final fireworks faded into the night sky and another Pampa Hometown Independence Day Celebration came to a close, our hearts are full.

What we witnessed this year was more than an event. It was a reminder of what makes Pampa extraordinary. Families gathered together. Veterans were honored. Friends reconnected. Children laughed, danced, chased ducks, waved flags, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

None of it would have been possible without the incredible businesses, organizations, and community partners who chose to invest in our hometown and in celebrating Americaโ€™s 250th birthday together.

A special thank you to Intersect Power, our Main Stage Sponsor, for helping create the center of activity throughout the day and for keeping everyone cool with sponsored cooling towels.

Thank you to Google, Hunting, and the City of Pampa Texas , whose support helped make possible the largest fireworks display in Pampa history. Thank you to our talented local pyrotechnician, Kyle Flood.

Thank you to Lonestar Home & Land Realty , our Duck Hunt and Duck Race Sponsor, for creating one of the most talked-about and family-friendly activities of the celebration.

Thank you to Pampa Teachers Federal Credit Union, our Waving Flag Sponsor, for helping fill our parade with red, white, and blue pride.

And thank you to every sponsor who helped bring this celebration to life:

Thank you to our volunteers, vendors, food trucks, entertainers, committee members, city crews, first responders, and everyone who worked behind the scenes before sunrise and long after the fireworks ended.

Most importantly, thank you to the people of Pampa.

Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for celebrating.
Thank you for supporting local.
Thank you for believing in traditions that bring our community together.

As we continue celebrating America 250 - Pampa Hometown Independence Day Celebration, we are reminded that the strength of our nation is found in communities like ours; where neighbors become friends, businesses become partners, and celebrations become memories passed down for generations.

There truly is no place like Pampa.

โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ Happy Independence Day, Pampa.
