Some of our most popular books in the last year might surprise you! Dog Man by Dav Pilkey checked out 111 times in the last year, while popular adult authors included Freida McFadden and Kristin Hannah.

*Popular books also tend to have more copies on the shelf which is one reason circulation can reach such high numbers.

Photos of the Panama City Paper Mill taken by Local History staff members on May 21, 2025 during a tour of the old facilities. The mill was constructed in 1930 by Southern Kraft Corporation; it changed hands several times before shutting down in 2022 as most of the original mill was too badly damaged during Hurricane Michael to remain operational. As a result, 450 mill employees were laid off. In 2024, SRM concrete purchased the property and has since employed more than 120 people, many of which are former mill employees. As of 2026, SRM is actively expanding their operation and demolition of the old paper mill ruins is underway.

On your next visit to the library, take a fun selfie with friends or family at our photo area in the lobby! Ages 10+ can also enter the September raffle for a bookish-themed prize bag.

Take a look at the progress pictures of this coming together over the last few weeks. It's always awesome to see ideas come to life, even if those ideas require enormous amounts of hot glue! 😁

P.S. No new books were harmed in the process of art. These books were already damaged/discarded and were lovingly repurposed into something everyone can enjoy!

Did you know that Constitution Week is celebrated every year from September 17 - September 23? The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, St. Andrews Bay Chapter donated a copy of We Demand the Right to Vote by Meneese Wall to the library. With their help, we've also created a display about the U.S. Constitution. Stop by to check out related library books, pick up a U.S. Constitution bookmark, or read more about the St. Andrews Bay Chapter.

This display will be up in the library lobby most of September.
