We are so excited to share that our ReadingPals program has grown into something even bigger.

Introducing Read United, an expanded program that brings parents and their young readers together to build stronger literacy skills right at home.

This summer we are meeting with families across Northwest Florida to work with parents AND their kids side by side. Think games, books to take home, tips and tools to make reading something your family actually enjoys together.

The best thing a child can have is a parent who reads with them. And we want to make that as easy and fun as possible.

We were recently recognized by our partners at the American Red Cross as a member of their Humanitarian Circle, an honor that reflects the incredible community we get to be a part of every single day.

"For more than 40 years, I struggled with the grip of addiction, feeling like I sold my soul to the devil. In January 2025, I took a courageous step toward change by entering Florida Springs Wellness and Treatment Center.

After completing my rehabilitation program, I came to Bethel Village, where I encountered God’s grace and rededicated my life to Christ.
During my time at Bethel Village, I not only received support in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle but have also been guided toward living a Christ-centered life.

Now, as I move into my very own apartment, I reflect with gratitude on the compassion and dedication of the staff at Bethel Village and the Panama City Rescue Mission.

I am deeply thankful for the support I’ve received on this journey. Through their guidance, I’ve found a new beginning and a renewed purpose in Christ. My favorite life verse is now 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Because of United Way, Panama City Rescue Mission was able to make Veta’s transformation possible.

Today we pause to honor Juneteenth, a day that reminds us that freedom is not truly free until it reaches everyone.

At United Way of Northwest Florida, we believe in a community where every person has the opportunity to thrive. That work is inseparable from understanding and honoring the history that brought us here.
