Many male survivors never report what happened to them, making sexual violence against men significantly underreported. Fear of judgment, shame, and harmful stereotypes can create barriers that keep survivors from seeking help, often leaving them to cope in silence.

Every survivor deserves to be heard, believed, and supported. By raising awareness and challenging stigma, we can help create a community where more men feel safe reaching out for the care, resources, and support they deserve.

Many survivors don't realize they can receive support even if they choose not to report the assault to law enforcement. Seeking services is a personal decision, and our advocates are here to provide compassionate care, information, and resources regardless of whether someone decides to make a formal report.

Every survivor deserves access to support in a way that feels right for them. Our goal is to meet survivors where they are, respect their choices, and ensure they know they don't have to navigate their healing journey alone.

Ending sexual violence is a responsibility we all share, and it starts with understanding that consent is essential. By promoting respect, healthy relationships, and clear communication, we can help create safer communities where everyone is treated with dignity.

Each conversation about consent helps build awareness and encourages a culture where boundaries are respected and every person feels valued. Together, we can be part of the change that prevents sexual violence and supports a future built on respect.

One of the most meaningful things you can do for a survivor is simply be there. Offering a listening ear, believing their experience, respecting their choices, and reminding them they are not alone can make a lasting difference in their healing journey.

You don't have to have all the answers to provide support. Sometimes, your presence, patience, and willingness to walk alongside someone through a difficult time are exactly what they need. Healing looks different for every survivor, and having a trusted support system can make that path a little easier.

If you suspect a child is being abused or a child tells you they have experienced sexual abuse, knowing what to do next can help protect their safety. Reporting concerns as soon as possible gives professionals the opportunity to intervene, investigate, and connect children and families with the support they need.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Otherwise, suspected child abuse can be reported to the Florida Abuse Hotline by calling 1-800-96-ABUSE (1-800-962-2873), reporting online at ReportAbuse.dcf.state.fl.us, or by using the Florida Abuse Hotline mobile app. Every report has the potential to help keep a child safe and begin the path toward healing.

Strength doesn't always look the way people expect it to. Sometimes courage is found in asking for help, setting boundaries, sharing your story, or simply choosing to keep moving forward one day at a time. Every survivor's journey is unique, and every step forward deserves to be recognized.

No matter what healing looks like, survivors are stronger than the challenges they have faced. With compassion, support, and hope, healing is possible, and no one has to walk that journey alone.

Deciding whether to report a sexual assault is a deeply personal decision, and it's okay if someone isn't ready right away. Every survivor deserves the time, space, and support to make the choice that feels right for them.

If someone is considering reporting, reminding them that they don't have to navigate the process alone can make a meaningful difference. Advocates are available to provide information, explain available options, and offer support every step of the way, regardless of what a survivor decides.

Sexual violence is more common than many people realize, and unwanted sexual contact affects countless men every year. Raising awareness about these experiences helps break down harmful stereotypes and reminds survivors that they are not alone.

Every survivor deserves to be treated with compassion, believed without judgment, and connected to the support they need. By having open conversations and challenging stigma, we can help create a community where all survivors feel safe reaching out for help.

Collaboration is essential to providing the best possible support for survivors. We were grateful to join our community partners at the recent Bay County SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) QA-2 Meeting, where professionals came together to strengthen partnerships, share knowledge, and continue improving the coordinated response to sexual assault in our community.

When agencies work together, survivors benefit from a more connected, compassionate, and trauma-informed system of care. Thank you to everyone who remains committed to this important work.

Creating a safer community for survivors starts with believing them. When someone chooses to share their experience, responding with compassion, listening without judgment, and offering support can have a lasting impact on their healing journey.

Believing survivors is one of the many ways we can help foster a community where people feel safe coming forward. Together, we can create an environment built on trust, empathy, and a shared commitment to supporting survivors every step of the way.
