PSA::: We have been made aware of a new phone scam in our area. If you receive a call from someone claiming you have won a truck and $500 for life. It is a scam. Please do not give them any personal information. Please do not purchase gift cards and send them to the requesting party. Thank you. On Friday, May 29, 2026, Officer Rusty McCoy and Officer John Fenton conducted a traffic stop on a 2019 Chevrolet for a traffic violation. During the investigation, the driver attempted to flee the scene. After a brief struggle and verbal commands, the driver was placed in custody. Officer McCoy and Fenton located over 2 ounces (approx. 59g) of suspected methamphetamine. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the White County Detention Center

The drugs field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.

All suspected are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

*SCAM ALERT**

A citizen in the community received a call from a Sgt. Collins who advised them that they were with the Cleburne County Sheriffs Office and then the FBI. They requested the citizen to pay money over the phone or go to jail.

But, the citizen was in the presence of Chief Bonner and another Pangburn Officer and his story changed pretty quickly. Any law enforcement officer or department will never attempt to request money over the phone. Be aware of these types of phone calls!
