We also want to share during EMS week, that we completely understand being on the other side of calling 911. Everyone on our department, and every EMS department are here as part of a calling, that only they understand. We love what we do, and love the support and kind words we have already received this EMS week!

During EMS week I want to take a moment to say how proud I am of the paid and volunteer staff of Panora EMS. This is a wonderful and dedicated group of individuals who serve the citizens of Guthrie County every day not expecting any thanks.
I want to thank them all for the wonderful job they do every day. They make my job easier and certainly more enjoyable.

At Panora EMS, commitment to training happens both on the scene and behind the scenes. Ongoing education, hands-on equipment review, and continued focus on documentation help our team consistently grow and improve as providers.

No matter how many times a skill has been performed or a piece of equipment has been used, there is always an opportunity to learn, refine, and improve. A dedication to continuous learning is one of the greatest strengths in the EMS profession, and we remain committed to providing the best care possible to our community.

Pictured:

ACLS scenarios, using a rhythm generator for our monitor, we run scenarios with literally anything we can ever run into in the field. Using all equipment we carry we treat the patient, including intubation and ventilator management. Our anatomically correct mannequins can be intubated, shocked, and can simulate vomiting and bleeding in compromised airways.

EMT Matt Sprague brought his therapy dog, Fred. Fred is a member of Guthrie Center Fire department. He specializes in crisis response for first responders, and loves to do PR events! He is
capable of serving at many levels, from providing peer support for other First Responders, to responding to critical incidents within his communities or across the state, providing aid to the individuals or groups of people in the aftermath of crime, casualty or disaster, and educating their communities about the importance of mental wellness.

Pediatric restraint system, we trained on our pediatric restraint system that we use to keep our pediatric patients safe for transport. Special thanks to volunteer RN/EMT Mackenzie DeMoss for bringing her daughter to be our guinea pig!

Not pictured are documentation and report writing, and a presentation by Jotham Arber on communicable diseases that are currently active, including treatments and provider precautions.

It’s National Telecommunicators Week!

We thank the men and women behind the phone and mic—the invisible organizers of chaos. They are the first link in the first responder chain, managing resources and multitasking extraordinarily under pressure.

All you hear is their voice, but they are so much more.

Thank you for everything you do—and enjoy your treats!
