Big thank you to our volunteer firefighters for cooking over 130 steaks and all the fixings and making yesterday a success and an even bigger thank you to our community who showed so much support for us! We truly appreciate each and everyone of you who contributed!

We would also like to thank Big Mikes in Ashford/Renegade Meats and the Grocery Outlet for supporting this fundraiser!! Tell them thank you for supporting our communities next time you see them!!

Structure Fire/Lighting Strike 
1600 Block of Gene Terry Road.

Lovetown Fire, Hodgesville Fire, Cottonwood Fire, & Cottonwood Rescue responded. Cottonwood Rescue arrived on scene first and reported nothing visible. Lovetown and Hodgesville’s engines arrived on scene. The house was off the road. Lovetown and Cottonwood staged at the hydrant. No active fire was found and units returned to service.

‼️Huge shout out to the 911 Dispatchers. Rough 7 calls were active at the time of this structure fire. Numerous more calls before and after!! Houston County only has 3 dispatchers on at a time normally, sometimes even working with 2. We appreciate there hard work keeping us informed and helping get resources!!

⚠️ WEATHER DAMAGE REPORTED ACROSS HOUSTON COUNTY

Multiple trees are being reported down across Houston County as severe weather moves through the area.

Two fire hazards have also been reported, including one on Reid Street and another on Hartford Highway.

A tree is also reported down near the Florida state line.

Drivers should use caution and avoid areas with downed trees, power lines or other hazards.

Wiregrass Daily News will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Please keep our firefighting family in your prayers. Our Assistant Chief had a heart attack Friday, came home today, and was just rushed back to Southeast Health after suffering a stroke. Please pray for healing, strength, and a full recovery.
